Labor and delivery and Emergency Room for children is terrible. Military moved us here and when we first got here my son bite into a sausage at cracker barrel on international and it cut his upper gums, we came to this hospital since it came up on our navigation and they didn't take his weight, they just estimated, which if there was an urgent matter and they needed to medicate him - it can mean life or death. Also, they had no concern nor documented the incident correctly. They just gave me a generic document with information not pertaining to my sons case and I had to call them and ask why was that. They explained that it was documented on their computers but just not for me and explained to me on the phone what I needed to do. I thought nothing of it and had to have my baby nine months later. Labor and delivery also terrible. They don't ask if its okay to have students in the room. I had about seems like twenty students including the doctors and other people who were- I guess suppose to be there. I just felt violated, so uncomfortable. No one asked me or told me that me and my family were being observed or have several student practicing on my child, I watch the video of my son being demonstrated on the top of his head like ten times. I didn't want to get upset, since I already didn't want to have a re-peat C-section and I could not get my child circumcised at the hospital. It was just difficult for me to concentrate and not get upset. This was suppose to be a special moment for me and my family. But it was a disaster- not a good experience for me at all. I then didn't feel safe anymore. When I got to the room I didn't want anyone to take my kid out of the room and my nurse Melissa was just intolerable. Anything I asked for was a battle/ a fight. I wanted milk for my child and I was denied milk. I asked for a binder for my stomach, also denied. Asked to have my bed changed and was told that there is no tech available today, so I couldn't have my bed changed. I was in so much pain , I asked for assistance getting up and she just left the room. I asked for my pain medication on time it was due- the only thing I called them for and was also denied. I mean, it was terrible. I had to ask others to do her job or wait until the next shift began to get things done. The second shift nurse asked to care for me because of coarse I was no trouble, all my family are in the medical field so I have sympathy and let them do little to nothing for me unless it was absolutely necessary. After the second day with the same attitude from Melissa, I requested to speak with the charge nurse, who said that she can just take over my room and asked me if I was a medicaid participant, I do not understand why that was a factor, but I just said no I was not. Does that determine how I am treated? My privacy and the well being of my child and myself was not important to them, I know all kind of HIPPA laws were violated. That also meant that the baby nurse also didn't come and assist me with my child, I basically took care of myself during the day shift. Then they were checking to see if my child had diabetes and the student just told the nurse she was going to do it and the nurse allowed her to, when I was speaking to someone else. She left a mark on his foot- I was furious, again was not asked or told this was going on. I would also like to mention that when you have a major surgery you are suppose to do certain things to prevent infection and to make certain you walk out of there okay. If I didn't have children prior to this birth. I probably would have had an infection or something serious occur. Its like they did not have experience on how to take care of me after delivery. I am a very nice person, i get along with everyone and hate to cause trouble or complain. But I fear, if they do not train their staff better they will be probably be dealing with a lawsuit in the near future. I was not given a survey and anything because they knew I would tell the truth. I am thinking about writing the CEO, cause this is really bad. I can go on...
