Story

In the elegant galleries of The Frick Collection—a museum housed in the former mansion of industrialist Henry Clay Frick—you will find some of the most exceptional works of Western art. Ranging from the Renaissance through the late nineteenth century, the Collection includes works by such celebrated artists as Bellini, Constable, Corot, Fragonard, Gainsborough, Goya, El Greco, Holbein, Ingres, Manet, Monet, Rembrandt, Renoir, Titian, Turner, Velázquez, Vermeer, and Whistler.

In addition to major paintings by these and other masters, the Frick’s galleries contain fine French porcelains, Italian bronzes, sculptures, and period furniture. The permanent collection is further enriched by frequent presentations of special exhibitions.

Established by Henry Clay Frick, the museum was greeted with awe when the doors first opened in 1935. It has grown over the years, while maintaining the special ambiance of an art connoisseur’s mansion, and today the Frick is internationally renowned as one of New York’s most remarkable cultural treasures.

One of the great museums of NYC. A Hidden gem if you are not aware of its existence. There are several masterpieces bought by Fink after the death of J.P Morgan and other acquisitions from great art collectors. Unfortunately you can't take any pictures once inside. But still I highly recommend this place the audio guides are free and extremely in depth about the history of each piece since its creation and the history of the artwork being purchased and gifted from one owner to the next.

Great museum, especially considering the building was a home. Can get very crowded. Definitely a must see. Has a couple pieces by Outer Bruegel the Elder, as well as "The White Horse," all bucket list worthy pieces for me. Also has good exhibits.

I honestly can't remember a piece of art in the Frick, but I can picture the house itself in my mind vividly. What a delightful place. Definitely worth an afternoon if you're an art or old New York mansion lover.

Small but unforgettable N.Y. museum (Tiziano, Turner, Vermeer, Renoir, Fragonard, ...). A little out of the mainstream (no "pass" can be used here). Also interesting the family history, an example of how, sadly only in the past, a great wealth has been used to share and diffuse culture and arts.
