The Pie Pizzeria - Midvale

About

The Pie Pizzeria, a valley landmark since 1980, continues to reign atop the “Best Pizza” lists because of the business philosophy that consistency, quality, equitable pricing and great service are the keys to success.

Story

The Pie takes no short cuts! We believe that quality takes time. It would be a MIRACLE if you get your pizza in less than five minutes! We like to consider ourselves old school, no frozen dough or pre-shred bagged pizza cheese here. Everything at The Pie is made to order. Pizza dough is hand rolled and hand tossed the traditional way. We slice our meats, cheeses and vegetables fresh every morning. Our sauces and dressings are made in house too. We do this not because it's the new culinary trend, we do this because we have done it that way for over 35 years. To us it's more about the interaction than the transaction.

I've tried all sorts of gluten free pizza in the valley since my body started to reject gluten almost exactly 2 years ago. Nothing has impressed me frozen, delivery or takeout. It was always the same cracker crust that had no flavor, or the taste was completely off. As long as it tastes like pizza dough, thin crust or not, then I was accepting of it. The last time I went to the Pie was in 2015. It was the last time I ate pizza and drank beer that had gluten in it, without a worry. Ever since then, I've been careful at avoiding gluten and my digestive system has been reacting like it should. Once I had a bad reaction, I counted the Pie out since they didn't have a gluten free menu at the time. I just went in with my wife today and it blew our minds. The gluten free pizza was amazing. I have been trying to have a good hot dog, hamburger, pizza, sandwich, burrito....anything since my body stopped accepting gluten. I was in shock at how damn good this pizza crust was. It was thin crust, but hell....the flavor of the pizza told my mind that thin crust was awesome at this point. It was the first time I had thin crust and enjoyed it. It was the first time in 2 years I had a damn pizza and loved it! My wife even had half of the pizza and loved it!! I can't wait to try the gluten free cheese sticks!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just went to The Pie for the 3rd time in the last 2 weeks, and I don't even live in Utah! Love this place. Disclaimer: I'm a sucker for big, juicy, meaty pies and I just loved the Mountain of Meat. After a hard day of skiing nothing hits the spot like that. Oh boy. 2 large pies fed four very hungry dudes, by the way. All that said, I tried some other pizza there too, and it seems like they are not a one trick pony. Their mushroom specialty pizza (forget the name) actually had an entirely different character, which I thought was interesting.

A couple of weeks ago,I ordered a16" Italian Special and I was told that it would be delivered between 45 min to one hour. I thought it was reasonable however after 90 minutes the pizza still had not arrived. I called the restaurant to find out where my pie was only to be put on hold and then hung up on. When I called again I spoke to someone who could not find my order in their system. I was then transferred to another person who after some time found my order and also found that it had been delivered to another address. At this point it had been 2 hours since I ordered my pizza. In the end, I never received a pizza, nor did anyone offer to comp me for another pizza and I then I had to call back the next day to speak to the GM to get my refund. The next day I spoke to the GM and received my refund without even offering to comp me another pizza plus a mild apology for the hassle I had been through the previous night and now the second day trying to get my money back. Fast forward to last weekend. Once again, I ordered a pizza. It showed up about an hour and 10 minutes later. Cold.........I will NEVER order a pizza again from this location. You can do much better with a Papa Murphy take and bake plus the service is better. Silly me trying to give this place another chance.

This is my favorite location. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. It's always busy, but fast for gourmet pizza. Great food!

Clean, delicious, great service, can I say more? This is one of my favorite pizza joints in the valley. The pizza is fresh and always packed with flavor and toppings. I love that they do live music on Wednesdays and the guy that sings is great. The vibe in the restaurant is brilliant, and the service is always personable and top notch. I would recommend this to any pizza lover.
