This establishment has been a part of Va Beach for decades and is truly a must try. Moderately priced lunch and dinner menu specializing in fresh catch seafood. I ordered a blackened tuna sandwich, cooked perfectly at medium rare and it was delicious! The tuna was at least 1" thick, a full 8 oz piece, and cooked with the perfect seasonings. Note: The Raven is a bar with a great menu. There's smoking and non smoking seating areas. I regret that I didn't take some photos.

What can I say about The Raven well what I will say though is that this restaurant is a icon of Va. Beach History it's a staple to the Ocean front and is and can be an amazing place again for the right buyer. What I did find out is that this place is up for sale, at least that's the rumor on the Ocean front strip. The food here has lost it's luster, it's become standard bar fair and the cook is sub par, The waitstaff is great the service was attentive and very lovely. The glasses never remained empty and they made sure all our needs where met. But the building, this poor building needs help, the basic structure to the windows down to the shabby stained and worn out carpet are in desperate repair, and replacing. My hope for a future investor is that someone buy this icon of Va. Beach level it to the ground and rebuild the Raven to bring it back to its glory. Someplace where it can play live music, someplace you can go to get an awesome burger and a Tee Shirt with the proud Raven on the back. That's what I want to see. So for now 2 Stars Raven... Just two and both of them go to your Waitresses because they earned it.

Came here for the military history. Really wanted to like the place, but it was bad bar food and a cloud of cigarette smoke. Love the fact it has been open since 1968, but it looks like it hasn't been cleaned since then. Drain flies buzzing about, in January. Staff was very friendly and cheerful, but the food was greasy spoon at best and the heavy smoke haze drove us right out the door. I hope the owners read the reviews and do something about the smoke stench and cleanliness. Cannot return and cannot recommend.

Sat for 15 minutes with no service and walked out before even ordering. In that they still allow smoking in the building (which I thought was in violation of some law about public places) do not like smelling smoke when eating. Made the decision to leave before eating that much easier. Can only assume those who love this place so much enjoy smoking and have found their oasis. Not for me.

Food was delicious! Crab cakes are gr8! Staff was very friendly & very attentive. My waitress never let my drink get under halfway & she didn't even write our order down & everything came out perfect..fresh..very hot. I will definitely be visiting again.
