Story

Thoroughbred Ford opened for business in 1984 in downtown Kansas City. The name Thoroughbred in the dictionary is defined as an organization that is marked with grace and elegance; something that possesses sterling qualities. This was the image we wanted, thus we selected Thoroughbred as our dealership name.

Our business grew over the years until the opportunity presented itself to relocate and build a new dealership in the northern suburbs of Kansas City only 5 minutes from the International Airport.

Ford Motor Company awarded Thoroughbred Ford again with their President's Award for the full calendar year of 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010 presented to less than 3% of all dealerships nationally. Ford says of the President's Award, "It is an award that exemplified achievement.... an honor bestowed on only a select group of individuals whose exceptional effort and superior performance distinguish them from all others".

Taking over two years to build, the new 42,000 square ft. facility opened in the summer of 1998. Designed by the world famous Gensler Architects in San Francisco and the prestigious firm of WRS Architects in Riverside, the facility was carefully planned in every detail.

Our staff is committed to achieving top customer satisfaction in every facet of our business. We take pride that based on independent customer surveys done by Ford Motor Company, we rank among the top 10% of all dealerships nationally.

When I took my T.C. to Thoroughbred for the fuel vapor correction, I was extremely pleased at the new average mpg. It was usually around 24-25 and now the average is 27-28. They also searched for any new recalls and found one about the possible defect in the sliding door latches. I was treated with the same respect as if I were paying for the repairs. I have always been treated respectfully at Thoroughbred Ford. As I have told others, there may be other manufacturers who may make products as good as Ford BUT it is the people of Thoroughbred who have made me a loyal customer.

I am normally amazed by the quality of service I receive at Thoroughbred. Prompt, polite, customer-friendly. My most recent visit to the service center, however, was not very good. Although I received timely service when they predicted, the service people did not review what had been done, seeming more interested in getting me out of the store than in providing service. Most bothersome, however, was that the light has kept coming on for the last two days telling me I need to change my oil (which is just what I had done), and more things are seemingly wrong with the car than when I took it in. I am a loyal Thoroughbred customer, and I will go there for service again. I just want to be treated like I have every other time. Most recently I brought my Escape in for an oil change and check up. this visit was as I have come to expect -- knowledgeable and courteous. The change was quick, efficient and I was pleased that they knew the history of my car well. Great visit. My experience this time -- May 25 -- was excellent. Other than the mis-estimate of how long the work would take, I was treated professionally and with care. They advised me each step of the way what was going on, asked my permission, and finished positively. They found something important that needed to be done that I had not anticipated.

This service department has always been prompt, helpful and fairly priced. Their reccomendation to the Ford Advantage plan and now My Ford credit card has saved me even more money! From New tires savings to the Works package savings. John green and their new service writer Katie have been great every time! Thank you and keep it up

Thank You Thoroughbred Ford, and Your Wonderful Employees. I have been doing business with Your company, for several years. You get Your vehicle, when they promise it to You. If there is ever a problem, it is always corrected. I've never hear any employee say that isn't my department, or I don't know. They will get back with you in a timely manner, or they will make the situation right. In the future when I have to make a vehicle purchase, I know it will be from Thoroughbred Ford!!! Thank You Again, and keep up the wonderful work!!!

Everything about Thoroughbred Ford Service was just fine! Courteous, informative, took care of my issues, alerted me to the fact that the tires will need to be replaced soon. Not good news but good to know. I looked at the tread. Yes, they are correct. Car is running just fine otherwise. Thank you, Thoroughbred Ford Service.
