My tennant called Travers to clear a blocked bath drain when I was out of town. In good faith (aka like an idiot) I gave them my credit card.  They charged  $620 to snake the drain - unbelievable! !!  I challenged the bill which did not include a breakdown of the hours worked.  I was told that I'd been charged overtime but I never stated that this was an emergency job.  Apparently it took the plumber two visits because he only bought his large rooter the first time and he needed the small one.  I was charged twice.  I was eventually given a 15% discount but I was still left with the taste of being ripped off.  I'll do it myself next time, or call rotor rooter.  Travers gets some positive reviews here from people who seem to be established customers but I wouldn't recommend them for a one-off job or new business.

Called the company for no hot water  problem. Asked if they worked on this type of boiler. The receptionist said yes. They sent someone out who later admitted he didn't know how to work on these. Sent someone 4 times over two days and still couldn't fix it. Long time to have no hot water! We had to call the manufacturer rep ourselves and diagnose the problem and he still couldn't fix it. Had to call another company to fix who came out in one hour and fixed it in 30 min. They overcharged us even though the guy admitted they didn't know what he was doing.

Travers Plumbing & Heating Inc. REVIEW
I have been doing business with Travers P&H for the past 5 years. I cannot express enough how Dependable, Knowledgeable and above all HONEST they are. My most recent reach out and service from them involved a Saturday 11/12/16 call out to them for “No Heat” at my Newport, RI condo. They returned my call in less than 15 minutes after leaving a message. I informed the technician that the gas fired unit was turning on but no heat was being generated. He explained what the possible cause was and that it would be an easy fix if they had the part in stock. BUT – he also explained that the weather forecast for the next 2 days was good and that there was no need to rack up the weekend (Saturday & Sunday) higher rates. Here comes the Trust & Honesty part – The unit is unoccupied and has electronic locks to allow access. Monday AM they arrived as promised, let themselves in, and effected the repair. The bill was mailed to my home in Massachusetts. The amount was certainly NOT what I had expected. The part they said was not the problem. They could have easily soaked me for that part, time and labor and I never would have known. They replaced my defective thermostat which was the problem. My thanks to Erika and the boys for AGAIN providing, Fast, Fair and Reliable service.

Everytime I had a plumbing, heating or tank emptied... I have called Travers. We have been working with them since they opened in Portsmouth and have never been steered wrong.

Will never use them again.  Called them because my toilet was not draining. The plumber they went out was very unprofessional.  He could not locate the septic system so I asked him to snake it.  He didn't want to because he said he would have to take the toilet off and he didn't want to do that, (hello he is a plumber)
When he snaked it he hits roots so he stopped instead of trying to get through them.  I had to call roto rotor the next day to get through the roots.  When he pulled the snake out, he was cleaning it off with his bare hands, I asked him if he shouldn't be wearing gloves, and he responded he doesn't like gloves they get in his way.   
When he was time to put the toilet back on he had to go to the hardware store to get a wax ring. What plumber does not carry a wax ring on his trunk.  And of course I was charged for that travel time.  
They charged me an hour before he even started working,  30 minutes travel time and 30 minutes walking around outside and playing with my dog.  He was trying to figure out how to remove a clog without taking the toilet off.
