Fresh, Homemade Pasta...Sunday Dinner is Everyday @ Tre Nonne!

Story

FROM THE SHORES OF ITALY, TO BROOKLYN NYC, TO NORTH CAROLINA...

The Tre Nonne story begins, of course, in the old country. Hailing from Naples and Calabria; for generations the forerunners of the Maresca family took great pride and enjoyment in preparing the finest traditional Italian meals, served with the utmost hospitality.

When Alice DeLuca (Dolly) and her family passed through Ellis Island at the turn of the century, she brought with her an old-world devotion to good cooking, and good fellowship to the new world. A parishioner of Mary Queen of Heaven Church in Brooklyn for decades, you can still see the statue of Mother Mary donated by her in the church courtyard. Alice loved to bake, and worked for many years as a member of the baker's guild, working the Midnight to 6 am shift making donuts.

Ann Vitale came to the new world from Naples, and hung her laundry on a wire across Mulberry Street. Ann worked in the meat department at her local supermarket. Always in the kitchen; her authentic recipes still guide us today.

Alice Maresca lived her life with a flair for Italian cooking and longevity. She spent many years working for a Manhattan hat maker, all the while perfecting her technique in her home kitchen.

The fabulous cooking, family, and friendship from the three family matriarchs -The Tre Nonnes- Alice, Dolly, and Ann- inspires every meal we serve -Hearty and delicious pasta, made fresh the old way, perfectly seasoned and prepared and seasoned meats, fresh salads and delectable sauces -our own version of Sunday gravy!

The recipes here at Tre Nonne are inspired by the memory of Sunday dinners gone by.

Just like in their kitchens, we honor the spirit old fashioned Italian hospitality and strive to make sure you leave full –and with a smile on your face!

This was our first time at Tre Nonne. We got the Lasagna and the Shrimp and Scallop Risotto. The Lasagna was fantastic. A generous portion full of excellent cheese and the unique mild sausage flavor. There must have been some sort of mistake with the Risotto. It was quite literally swimming in oil. Pretty disappointing because the flavor was on point. Loads of garlic and the shrimp and scallops were cooked just right. There really was just no reason for it all to be swimming in a half a cup of oil (I’m serious, no exaggeration). We’ll definitely have to give this place another try.

We really enjoyed this restaurant. The pasta is homemade and a little chewy compared to dry pasta. The ravioli had the best marinara sauce we have ever tasted. The rigatoni with vodka sauce was delicious. The alfredo sauce was rich and buttery. The olive dressing was not good unless you are an absolute olive lover. The rolls were delicious. The meatballs were good. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is cozy. We look forward to returning.

Were found this great place when our original eateries were overcrowded. Wonderful service, so clean, great food nice, quiet, friendly atmosphere. It's great for a date or for a family meal. I have nothing negative to say. wait staff was attentive, knowledgeable not did not hover. All request were honored and done properly.

Don't believe all the positive reviews you read before trying this place. We were disappointed all around, especially the time it took to get our meals. Not a whole lot of taste to the dishes we ordered, the service consisted of refilling your drinks and removing finished plates.. We will definitely stick to our favorite Italian restaurant just up the road. You never know until you try it...so the saying goes but to those who anticipate trying this place...I wouldn't suggest the waste of your time or money.

The best Italian food in Winston-Salem hand's down. Bobby was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendation. Very reasonable prices. The tiramisu was the best I ever had. Get there early the restaurant fills up fast. That in and if its self speaks to the restaurants reputation.
