We stopped here after visiting Fort Pulaski, in this charming old town, called Thunderbolt. The restaurant is large, it has a large interior dining room and bar, two beautiful terraces also with a small bar. It's great, there are fans all over the terrace, so being outside has been really nice. We have eaten an appetizer of chicken fingers, to accompany the very cold beers. Delicious. Our waitress, at all times she had a big smile on her face, very friendly and professional. Without a doubt, from now on, this is our new favorite place when we come to this area. 100% recommended.
Any place that is welcoming to my dog has five stars in my book. They have a cute little section outside for water to feed your dog and that won me over. The food was also amazing of course but I just love the hospitality of the staff and the food and drinks were very delicious.
First time eating here and been coming to the Savannah area for over 20 years. Had the spinach dip as an appetizer and it was delicious! I ordered the low country boil and my girlfriend ordered the steak salad. Both were great! I couldn't eat all of mine. Finally we ordered the Praline Cheesecake for dessert, I would have totally smacked someone if they had tried to take it. Great food, great staff, GREAT FOOD again.
Our very first and last time dining here.. Very disappointed. Hubby and I went for a much needed date night. We were seated almost immediately. Our server was rushing us to order, we were asking questions about the menu, and she kept rushing us and walking off. The drinks we ordered were watered down and when we told her, she visibly had an attitude and was like there's nothing she can do about the drinks so we'd have to get something else. Before we could order anything, she left again. So we asked for another server. She came back and essentially told us, it was her or no one. So we got up to leave. She had an attitude the whole time. We went to the bar, where we sat and ordered our food. The bartender was much more laid back, courteous and accommodating. We ordered our food and drinks. The food was subpar. My hubby ordered fried oysters and fries but he received what looked like a child sized portion. I ordered the steak of the day, which was a sirloin, cooked medium. The potatoes were good but the green beans were burnt. The steak was overcooked, chewy and tasteless. While the courteous bartender saved our date night, we still wouldn't return.
We had not eaten at Tubby's for some years. We had difficulty finding ANY handicap parking or handicap entrance as my DW has to use a walker. I asked a nice young man and he directed me to the back of the property. He said it is employee parking but he wouldn't tell on us. There was no handicap parking spots marked and NO SIGNAGE. We did however discover a ramp and entered into the lounge. The bar tender helped us find seating in the correct room. Our server "James " was just arriving and took our order. Food came quickly, was hot and correctly prepared. DW has shrimp salad sandwich, I had a bowl of crab stew & a deviled crab sandwich, we both had Spanky Spuds. All of it was hot and delicious. Probably the best crab stew I have had in Savannah and I was born here! We would love to return if the restaurant would get more handicap compliant and handicap friendly. See photos....
Amanda is the best bartender for this place! She keeps up with the flow and handles it gracefully! She’s prompt and friendly and just amazing, she remembered me!!! Also I’ve never been disappointed by the food, the fried mushrooms and salmon blt are my fave!!
I own a Diner. I understand how hard the restaurant business is, BUT..this is ridiculous. The place is less than 1/3 full on a Saturday night. We have barely been waited on. Drinks are weak. Tables beside us have not been cleaned in over an hour. Our drinks have twice been empty for more than 30 minutes. There was a drunk at the bar throwing out the f bomb every other word. There were half empty beer bottles and used napkins all over the bar. I could not be more disappointed. I ordered a vodka and orange juice. Both times it was brought to me in a wine glass..even though I specifically asked that it not be. Unfortunately, we will not be back.My wife’s brother lives in Thunderbolt right around the corner. We were looking forward to a fun filled night. Again, please understand that we RARELY complain. But the service, atmosphere, food, and drinks were all very below average. I looked for an email address instead of posting a public review but did not see that option.
Good was okay nothing special. I was very disappointed with the quality for the price. I got the fried shrimp large plate $18 and it had no seasoning maybe 8 pieces of shrimp a small size coleslaw which was awful as well I actually enjoyed the fries. I also ordered the bacon wrapped scallops and they were way over cooked and dry. Wouldn’t recommend it. The staff was friendly and the location was beautiful only reason for the 2 stars.
We so enjoyed sitting in your lovely deck. Your food was outstanding and the service equally as good. What a nice surprise just a short distance from our Airbnb. Thank you!
Our meals were tasty--I had shrimp & grits, my husband had the basa, and my daughter had fried oysters with fries. I can't say much about the view, but we enjoyed the deck, the fans, and the café-lights. We'd definitely return when we're back in the area! Parking: Good-sized, open lot, plenty of spaces that evening.
