"With a front row seat to River Street’s historic cobblestones, Fiddler’s serves up the freshest locally caught seafood available, setting the standard for fresh ocean fare on River Street. Housed in a historic 1850′s cotton warehouse, we offer a full menu for lunch and dinner, as well as a full service bar. Sit on our balcony and watch the ships roll by on the mighty Savannah River! Our shrimp are wild-caught and when available, locally purchased from our southern fishing fleets. Fiddler's is proud to have one of the largest selections of oysters that are hand shucked daily. We also offer a variety of seasonal catches including tuna, mahi mahi, wahoo and grouper, as well as signature dishes for our land lovers’ palates."

We were a party of 5. We waited for about 5 minutes for a table. As soon as we were seated the server was there to get our drink order. We ordered our food and it arrived very quickly. The crab dip in the bread bowl was AWESOME! The low country boil was seasoned perfectly. My sister had the salmon and she said it was the best she'd had in a long time. The restaurant was clean, the bathroom clean, the server wish I could remember her name. was very attentive, and the food was perfectly seasoned, way to go Fiddler's Crab House!
One of the best seafood places I’ve been to in downtown Savannah. The food was amazing and my waitress Chloe was great, that girl was on top of everything. Awesome job! The house Oysters were great and the Flounder Po Boy was also just as good. This will definitely be one of my go to place on River St. Don’t change a thing.
Eeww! Suggest you try some place different. Shrimp was not seasoned & tasted like they fried it in old chicken grease! And that was AFTER they tried to fix it a second time. Crab cake was only so-so & fish tasted like it was had flour only. Save your time & money until they find new cooks. Our waitress, Leigh, was super friendly and nice though! She demonstrated great Savannah hospitality that balanced the bland food.
It is very difficult to give an overall rating for this place because there is such a disparity between the quality of the food and the quality of the service and atmosphere. I'll start with the food. It was mostly excellent. The shrimp and grits were so flavorful and there was a ton of shrimp and sausage in there. The shrimp poboy was about average for the area, the fries were great. The service was extremely slow. I don't know if it was a kitchen problem or a waiter problem, but it was ridiculous. Also, the place doesn't smell great when you walk in on the ground floor. It smells like you're walking into an old fish shack. Maybe that's a good thing for some people, but it just smelled dirty to me. I'd not recommend just based on the service. I don't want to sit down for lunch and wonder if I'm gonna be spending my next birthday here.
I had Fidlers' steamed coastal carolina shrimp off the appetizer menu. 1 pound. Served warm with drawn butter and cocktail sauce. Honestly, it was the freshest best shrimp I ever had! Somewhat seasonal maybe. Noticed that their other entrees get mixed reviews. But I'll just keep it simple and delicious. Nice view of the river too.
First, the raw oysters in the window are what drew us in. But let me tell you what made us stay for 2 hours.. Chris. He was the friendliest, most entertaining and downright interesting man we’ve met in Savannah. He kept us talking, he was an excellent server, he shucked oysters by hand right in front of us and we were so impressed with him and the oysters that we came back the next day. If you go, make sure you get Chris! Also the Bloody Mary was unreal.
Food was great. Staff was great. Stopped in while walking by to inquire about oysters. It was my fiances birthday and he'd never tried one so I was on a mission. Chris, at the oyster bar up front, was so nice and knowledgeable. He gave him his first for free. We did go the following day to thank Chris again but he had already left for the evening. So thank you Chris! We ate dinner and it was amazing. The reason for only 4 stars is because we both got sick that night. We are thinking it was the breading on the fried green tomatoes as it was the only thing we both ate. Maybe old grease was used? Regardless, we'd go back if in the area!
Reasonable prices, great flavor, perfect for shellfish lovers. Definitely recommend the oysters savannah, and there are also many others to pick from. There is a bar downstairs and a restaurant with balconies that overlook the river upstairs. Of all the restaurants we went to during our time in Savannah, this one had the best bang for your buck. We got 2 orders of oysters, 2 entrees, and drinks for $100 even.
What in the heck??? We went last night and it wasnt busy at all. Food was lackluster and stupid expensive. 50 bucks mkt price for some grab legs is laughable. Service was god awful. Couldnt even get someone to clear a dang plate. Took forever for food and drinks. I used to live in Savannah and glad this place didnt exist then and the fact it is even making it now is insane. Worst dining experience ive had in this city in 20 years.
The year Covid started, my husband and I tried crab claws at Fiddlers. They were absolutely delicious! We came back today & they were detestable as well as the service. A female not of color with unsanitary dreadlocks told us that if we sat at the bar we would have no wait. As we were waiting at the bar, we noticed that everyone else had water. We weren't offered water as we waited, we weren't updated about our order but we were given the bill to pay before the food came out but I don't pay before I get food at restaurants. Today felt like a racial issue as we were the only patrons with lightly tanned skin and the only ones ignored. What's also interesting is that the female with the unsanitary dreadlocks looked like someone that I wouldn't want handling my food. She looked unclean. She gets an "F" for "foolish & for failure." As we were walking out she said in a very loud voice "Have a great day!" I didn't respond because it was already evaluated that she is pathetic & unhappy with herself so it was no need for me to educate her. She was awarded a tip of zero dollars and a verbal tip from a V.P. of Human Resources that her behavior today was putrid. Today, I wasn't giving even one Turkish lira. Our crab claws were very few and lacking flavor except the taste of being freezer burned & odd. Picture also of the difference in quantity compared to a different patron. Same order price. Much less product. I don't like nor support companies that try to cheat or take advantage of certain patrons. We had 1 each of both itemsordered. The Oysters Rockefeller were repulsive as well. I honestly feel that the oysters were missing because we only had the flavor of 1 oyster in the bunch. It tasted like loads of moldy cheese after eating 2 We didn't have time to go to request our money back. We both ended up with cramping stomachs and diarrhea. We won't ever return. I will be contacting the Health Department tomorrow and we will be dining at better restaurants like The Cotton Exchange on that strip. Their food is amazing and 5 star. I'm in disbelief that Fiddlers hasn't been sued for their seemingly racist service and their horrible food but never say never. Fiddlers obviously has many broken strings now. I should have read reviews first like I normally do but was so focused on getting delicious crab claws but ended up with crab claw sickness or Oysters Rockefeller sickness. I think I read where someone said that parasites were either on their oysters or something else. Needless to say, we won't ever be back. This place should be shut down and whoever supports this twofold unsanitary place in the employees and the food, shame on you as well. My last two thoughts: 1 I am happy that I found God because the way that unsanitary female yelled out to us upon leaving would have been an entirely different situation if God wasn't with me. 2 Spend your hard earned money at professional, nice, flavorful & kind mannered restaurants that serve fresh food and show appreciation for your choice to dine with them; otherwise, you are just throwing hard earned money out of the window. I think people who like this place and haven't gotten sick are so full of Wet Willie's that their stomachs can handle old, freezer burned or spoiled food and got close to the end of the street and stumbled into this joint to quench a hunger pain. Great restaurants in Savannah from a world traveler: Old Pinkhouse, The Cotton Exchange & Savannah Seafood Shack. The pictures below show how many crab claws we each got in comparison to a different patron. Since we both got sick, we now consider it a blessing. When we walked in and placed our order, the only difference was the skin I am in like Halle Berrys skin. Shame on you for hiring such crumbs Fiddler! Shame on you for acting racist! Shame on you for making us both ill! Shame on you for cheating us with a different portion size! blessing in disguise though Shame on you for your pathetic staff minus 2 males that were kind. Failure.
