Tupelo Honey

About

Our Southern dishes & libations are served with a creative twist & a smile, & we serve our guests nothing that we wouldn’t want on our own supper table.

Story

Tupelo Honey Cafe first opened its doors in Asheville, NC in 2000. Considered one of the pioneers of Asheville's farm-to-table movement, we’ve continued to serve fresh, scratch-made Southern fare and put new twists on old Southern dishes and cocktails.

We’ve grown up from our humble beginnings as a single restaurant in the heart of Downtown Asheville and now have several locations across the Southeast. Each location not only continues the legacy of the original restaurant with creative, eclectic, imaginative food, but continues to foster a hometown feel through local art, local charitable outreach, local brews and responsibly sourced ingredients.

Our Franklin restaurant is the 12th Tupelo Honey location, which opened in 2015.

Great place for lunch. Menu is spectacular, from top to bottom. Innovative, creative...interesting! A lot of ingredients are homemade, lots of pickled stuff, which I love. Goat cheese grits, pork belly collards and blackened catfish were delicious. They have a lot of dishes that include eggs and my wife had the one with avocado toast, salad with salt roasted beets and 2 eggs over easy that she inhaled!! It isn’t cheap but I thought it was worth it, for a change. Definitely give this place a try!

Located in Warehouse Row behind the Dwell Hotel. The Decor was awesome. They have a patio you can eat on which was great. Service was impeccable. The fried pickles appetizer was the best we have eaten. The biscuits were delicious w/ berry jam & the honey was wonderful. My Husband got the chicken dinner & he said it was just ok. He seemed disappointed as he thought it would be pieces of chicken not small chicken breast. I got the chicken fried steak w/ onion gravy. The gravy was very good but the steak was really tough & hard to cut. It was served with a biscuit bread pudding (which is like a breakfast casserole.) The casserole didn't work as a dinner side item. It would have worked if the chicken fried steak was served w/o the onions as a breakfast dish. It also came with green beans that were very good. I think the prices were high for the food quality. We would probably eat here again if we were at Warehouse Row opting for appetizers, sandwiches, & brews. If you stay at the Dwell Hotel they give you a 10% discount.

This was my wife's and my third visit. We sat at the bar on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't insanely busy but most tables were full. The service was extremely slow, had to ask for water 3 times before getting any, and one of our meals arrived cold. It had definitely been sitting in the back for a WHILE. By the time we received the replacement meal, my wife had nearly finished hers. We have been a few times before this experience and the food is usually decent, a little better than most chains you could go to but still average. If you like a large beer selection they have some good ones but some things will be out. This experience coupled with the average food is why we will not be going back.

This was the second time for me at Tupelo Honey. During my first visit I just had a couple of appetizers that were solid and I quite enjoyed the drink selection. Hence, I decided to come back for a full meal. We ordered the grilled okra and gumbo for appetizers. Biting into that delicious crispy okra was quite the tasteful experience that was completely botched by an almost inedible gumbo. The gumbo had little to no meat, undercooked vegetables, and a bland base. It was so bad that I almost did not want to get an entree. However, I did proceed to get the pork loin seasonal entree. It consisted of thinly sliced grilled pork on a bed of glazed vegetables with crispy biscuits. The dish took away the bad gumbo taste and restored my faith in the place. My advice is keep the quality consistent to achieve the 5 stars. Overall enjoyable experience

We made a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server was lively and sweet. Our meal was good, but everything seemed to come out slow. We enjoyed the friend green tomatoes (although I would have like more coulis and less grits), half chicken and fish & chips. I didn't like the pecan pie. Overall it was a good experience, but not great.
