Story

Our mission at Twenty20 Cycling Company is to provide the highest level of customer service and to offer the best cycling products that we not only trust but use ourselves. We scour the industry for top products for the enthusiast, family, commuter, and racer. As a result, Twenty20 has the quality brands you can count on.

Founded in 2010, Twenty20 is a community oriented shop. We work tirelessly for better cycling in Baltimore and the surrounding areas. We are longtime promoters of local racing and have to our credit the region’s only internationally sanctioned cyclocross event, Charm City Cross, in Druid Hill Park. This event has greatly helped our efforts toward local and national advocacy.

Twenty20 hosts weekly group rides for everyone, from competitive road rides to beginner-friendly cyclocross clinics as well as casual rides around the community.

Knowledgeable, friendly staff who were happy to custom order some shoe covers they did not usually carry. This team also hosts one of the coolest cyclocross events in the country each fall.

Great place only if you have disposable income, or if you're willing to dispose of your not so disposable income. Took in an older Gary Fisher that was given a new chain and and a tune up. Didn't fix the shifting issue, so when I approached the mechanic she acted as if I was inconveniencing her. We were then told that it had a bad bottom bracket and wanted more money. We cut our $200 losses and went to a LBS in Severna Park, and the bottom bracket was fine. The bigger issue is that a new chain doesn't go on a old drive train. If you need the latest and greatest bike, go for it, but if you need a repair, go to a LBS with more experienced mechanics who will give you fair and appropriate service and sales. Will not be returning to Twenty 20.

I was completely clueless when buying my first road bike. I did a little research online, but when I went to Twenty 20, they were very knowledgeable and helped me find the perfect bike. I have had it for about a year and am so in love. Twenty 20 also did a great job tuning up my bike when needed. So pleased!

Friendly people, but will sell you bike accessories way more expensive than what you can find elsewhere. I went to this shop after buying a bike from velocipede, to get essential accessories. I am new to biking in the city and a beginner. I spend about $120 on a helmet, a small headlight, and a U-lock. I was happy with my experience, because the seller was helpful, friendly and took time for a few minutes to teach me how to use the accessories. However, after a couple of days, when I checked prices on amazon, I realized that I could purchase the same stuff (in case of lights much better quality ones) with almost half the price. Don't get me wrong! I realize that this is a local shop and they cannot compete with amazon. And, I would love to support them as a local shop. I can tolerate their prices being 10%, 20%, or 30% higher than amazon. But, I think selling stuff twice the price of what I could get from amazon is not fair for me. I felt I should go back and ask for a price match or return. When I went back the seller (different from the first one) said they do not do a price match. On the request for return, he started nagging about being a small business that can not compete with amazon, and that they buy their stuff more expensive than what you can buy from amazon (which sounds very stupid, and I asked "why don't you then buy your stuff from amazon?!). Eventually, I decided not to return, in support of a local business. But, I do not have a good feeling about the whole experience. I will probably never go to this shop again, and I will recommend my friends not to go there to buy bike accessories. I love local businesses on the Avenue and anywhere else, but I think it is not all on us supporting them. They have to be more creative and find ways to satisfy customers. Selling stuff almost twice as expensive as amazon, and being so hesitant in accepting returns, is not the way to go...
