Just spent 30 minutes Monday morning waiting for this post office in Berkley to open. They were supposed to be open at 9:00am but no one showed up for work today— except for their reliable maintenance individual. Well over a dozen other people came through the post office in the time I waited also needing to send out their parcels. One of the women said the exact same thing happened to her already just a couple weeks ago. I really don’t understand why this post office receives such good reviews. I have never found the employees to be particularly helpful or pleasant. Perhaps the people putting up “friendly neighborhood post office” reviews have not lived in many places outside of metro Detroit area.

It's a relatively small post office with limited but congenial staff. That's not a problem when they're not busy or you don't need to go to the counter. Yesterday's line was to the entrance and there was only one person at the counter. Not good but it is the holidays. Parking is super convenient.

9:50am on Friday (2/16) and a group of around 10 of us waiting to be served, only to realize IT IS NOT OPEN. Hours state 9AM. Extremely frustrating. Reading other reviews where this is apparently common. I live in Berkley, but looks like I will be using Royal Oak or really any OTHER post office from now on.

The staff have always been very friendly, and I typically have no issues, but this situation was frustrating-- I sent two packages priority mail, was told at the post office they would arrive 1-2 days. (One was only going from Berkley to Royal Oak, the other to Charlevoix.) It's been 5 days and neither package has been delivered or has a status on when they may arrive. I called USPS, was put on hold for 2 hours, only to be told there was never a guarantee the packages would arrive between 1 and 2 days. It would have been great if I was told this at the office when I sent them out to mail. I was told I could have found this information on the USPS website, that I couldn't get any money back, and that there was nothing they could do. I didn't receive any information as to why the packages had been delayed for so long.

I live in Southfield, about a minute away from the Southfield Post Office.But I prefer to drive 5 miles further to go to the Berkley Post Office. Unlike Southfield, Berkley never has a long line, and the clerks there are so friendly and helpful they turn something I've always dreaded - going to the post office - into a pleasant experience. I love this place!
