How is this even a real hospital? I’ve read 100 terrible reviews and I love how they respond to each review, but nothing changes as the terrible reviews keep coming in. Brought my son in here, out of state, and this place is nothing short from a disappointment. It’s dirty, the staff is unfriendly and “busy”. The practicioner that saw us wasn’t, in my eyes, very confident with her diagnosis/treatment. She left the room sneezing/coughing and came back in the same gloves........... it’s flu season people. This place needs to be shut down. And no, I don’t want to call the patient advocate, thank you. Step it up, for real.

I won't even discuss my issue because it seems my problem was resolved. HOWEVER. We had to bring my husband in for an object lodged in his eye. Went into the room and waited a good 30 mins before being seen (no problem, I understand its an ER) numbing drops were applied to his eye. The nurse was fantastic. The doctor came in, I feel she was very cold and her bedside manner just lacked empathy. Maybe she was overwhelmed? I'm not really sure but I let it go and didn't bother to address it. She brought out a needle to attempt to remove the object and her assistant (I'm not really sure if she was a nurse or not) came over to hold the light on my husbands eye. SHE WOULDN'T LOOK WHERE SHE WAS POINTING THE LIGHT! THIS IS MY HUSBANDS EYESIGHT! I'm cringing at this point because what followed next from her was "I'm squeamish sorry Dr. I can't watch this..." Immediately my thought was, then why are you in here doing this?! The doctor shortly stopped considering the light was going all over the place and not on his eye. Next she left the room and a nurse entered with a bag of saline solution and I (with no medical background, I don't care if its saline solution) was instructed to flush my husbands eye. We're in the ER listening to conversations in the hallway between employees, why am I doing this? Again, I complied because I hoped we would be able to get this taken care of. The doctor reentered the room and this time I (again no medical background) was her assistant and held the light for her so she was able to try again. The total amount the doctor tried to remove the object (from the time we entered the ER to the time we were discharged) was about 10-15 minutes before she said "We just don't have the tools here" and handed me a referral to Washington Hospital Center who would be able to better help us. We're self pay which was explained. I'm not going to another ER so the following day I called around and was able to get in with Dr. Wang in Charlotte Hall who was able to remove the object in about 10 minutes with the proper tools. I received the first bill from the hospital, no problem set up a payment plan. Next was the doctors bill which HAS THE CHARGE FOR THE REMOVAL as well as the exam totaling to an additional $812 on top of the $500 from the hospital. YOU DIDN'T REMOVE ANYTHING FROM MY HUSBANDS EYE! So you falsely billed him for something you didn't do? Best part is the explanation I just got from the EMA billing office was "well they have to bill out for the doctors time" I agree. Charge me for the exam, I will happily pay that. Do NOT bill me for something you didn't do. I have proof I went to another facility and he had the object removed from there. This is unethical and I'm really hoping you guys do the right thing and correct this bill because I am most definitely disputing the charge. I live 10 minutes away from this hospital and until something DRASTICALLY changes I will gladly drive over an hour to get medical care even if that means putting my life in jeopardy. UPDATE: THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO THE COMMENT LEFT. MY HUSBANDS BILLING ISSUE ISN'T RESOLVED. MY OWN PERSONAL BILLING ISSUE WAS RESOLVED. DON'T WORRY I'LL BE REACHING OUT TO THE PATIENT ADVOCATE ABOUT ALL OF THIS RIDICULOUSNESS

Worse system ever. Better care ANYWHERE else DO NOT COME HERE!!! I would be embarrassedto even say i worked here. Whoever is in charge should be fired . Lousy communication from Doctors. Waiting almost 2 hoyts for discharge because there was only one person to discharge.

Worst ER ever. My doctor sent me here to get fast care. I went in with server abdominal side pain. The doctor passed me off as a mental case with IBS. I left with the same pain I went in with. I was also "told" I was being given a pain killer. I'm almost possative I was given a placebo. I will be making some phone calls. This is not right. These people need to do their jobs this place should not even be able to take care of sick people.

I came there for a mild stroke. I got a CT scan and x-ray but nothing was said. My RN was Reggie who gave me a little something for the pain but it didn't work. There was a shift change and I wasn't seen by anyone for 3 hours. And when I called for my nurse because my stroke was getting worse, she said what do you want me to do. That was it, so I left and I unhooked myself and went to another hospital. I will be reporting this incident immediately.
