12/24/17 was my first encounter with Southern MD Hosp. I have to say that I was truly truly truly impressed with the service I received in the ER. From the moment I signed in, the staff was professional and attentive. I received prompt and courteous assistance. Although I was in pain, and despite it being late XMAS EVE the staff was extremely polite and professional. Dr. Tillman and the nurses were patient, sensitive, and listened attentively to my concerns. Follow-up was prompt and the staff seemed to care about my well being. This is the absolute best experience that I’ve had at an ER in DMV area. Southern MD exceeded my expectations during an unexpected medical emergency. Thank you all so very much!!

Diverted to MedStar Southern Maryland literally as we were on the beltway and my wife started to experience chest pains. The facility is older and shows its age. The wait time was both good and bad - immediately started an EKG - no heart attack - but the overall wait time was poor: ~ 6 hours. The intake, nursing and doctor staff was very good. The providers actively listened, didn't rush and took time to explain what they thought might be happening. Impressed with the providers, not so much with the facility.

I had in and out surgery at Southern Maryland Hospital and the experience was absolutely great. Prior to surgery the registration process was flawless and the medical folks, including my Doctor, were absolutely GREAT!  The surgery department was a little small but the nurses and staff were very professional, attentive, personable and made me feel as if everything was going to be ok. I have to admit after reading some of these reviews, I was sceptical, but was very quickly removed starting with registration. GREAT JOB!!!

After hearing so many bad reviews i still decided to come in, and was actually pleased with my visit. I came into the ER, my wait was pretty long but the ER specialist Ashley was very kind, as well as my Dr. Lynn they explained everything about what was going on and made me as comfortable as possible.

Your hospital sucks. My daughter just delivered her first child there and I must say you have some of the rudest nurses in Labor and Delivery.  We left and got a phone call from my daughter to come back. She was hemorraging after returning to the hospital her nurse Joy had an attitude with us and acted as if she had no time to answer our questions. This was not us over reacting the room was full of family and all noticed her attitude with my daughter.I don't know what her problem is but I plan on reporting her. The doctor was amazing,but your nurses need a refresher course in bed side manners. My daughter and our family felt very unwelcomed.  By the way this was not just a one time thing. This also happened with a another nurse a few weeks ago when she thought she might be in labor. Nurses like that should not be working in any hospital much less Labor and Delivery. I think you might want to get some new nurses or more security before one of them gets knocked on their ass.
