Story

The doctors and staff of VCA Cordova Veterinary Hospital in Rancho Cordova feel that every animal brought to us is owned by a compassionate, concerned individual who desires the ultimate care and treatment for their pets.

We are a full service companion animal hospital, providing routine preventive care, early detection and treatment of disease, and complete medical and surgical care as needed throughout your pet's lifetime. We primarily care for dogs and cats.

Our veterinarians and support staff are committed to excellent veterinary care and are proud to one of only 12% of veterinary hospitals that are accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) hospital.

I give Dr. Andersen and her lovely vet assistant 5+ stars but had to take 2 stars off because of rude employees at the desk... (multiple times) Dr. Andersen is wonderful and on first visit knew exactly what dental work our baby girl Izza-baby needed due to periodontal disease that of which we have been battling several years. Dr. Andersen's assistant is AMAZING! I explained to her (and she truly listened to every word I was saying) that Izzy is very special because she is a paralyzed doxie and had 3 spinal surgies. She knew exactly how to hold Izzy supporting her chest and back-end. She knew handling a dachshund with spinal problems wrong could potentially cause further spinal damage! I felt very comfortable leaving Izza-baby as I knew she was in good hands!! (I am sorry I do not remember the vet assistants name) All went well.... well almost.. I could not believe how brash one of the employees working at the reception desk was!! Well I guess that is normal because I called back in the evening and the lady that answered the phone was abrupt, brash, used a tone like I was a total bother to her! Now I am very dissapointed because I wanted to return for other doggy medical needs but no longer feel comfortable doing so because what if... just what if those disgruntled employees handles one of my furbabies, and has that attitude with my pup!! I cannot risk that! Thank you Dr. Andersen and much thanks to your lovely assistant!

Dr Thomas was really great. She just met Brooklyn my wife and me and unfortunately she had to help us out are baby down. She was great we couldn't of asked for a better place and staff to help us send Brooklyn to her final resting place. Thank you guys

Dr Gates saved my Dog's life in 2015 where my vet in my town wrote her off saying she was too old to operate on. Dr. Gates was great, but the second time going there I felt like others, it was all about the money. After they looked over my baby Dr. Jen made me go get my money before she would go any further with treatment, who does this? fyi, my Aussie was freaked out, and so was I, not to mention I drove almost 2 hours to get there, so I was still in shock due to the way my dog just dropped on the floor while trying to harness her. I will never go back (just maybe) unless I get Dr. Gates. She is the owner. I too was charged a lot of money I didn't have, when it was something the dog would had came out of on her own. I told them what I believed what was wrong with her, (because I use to be a volunteer at my local vet out of High School), and it still cost me $600. She has Vestibular syndrome and it is something that you can deal with on your own. Everyone should watch the youtube video on this disease, so you too will know what is going on, because some think it is a stroke, also I witness my dog fall 2 times(who knows if she fell when I was not looking?) on their hard floor, and not 1 person picked her up off the floor, like bones can't break in a dog? My dog could not stand up on her own, at the time she was 50lb. I'm sorry, fire your staff if they don't have the love of animals in their Heart. Dr Gates knows what she is doing, and I only trust her now, but the problem is the staff. There was 1 young person there that was very rude to me, she is very fortunate I didn't sock her one, being I was already over the edge when I arrived after the almost 2 hour ride from the Mountains, in which I live. Be your own judge after reading these reviews. Blessings

This is the worst veterinary hospital I've ever seen in my life (including doctors and staff). It's all about the money in this place. They'll sell you the most expensive treatments whether your animal needs or not. The staff is rude and unprofessional and neither the doctors nor the people that work there seem to actually like animals. They treat them with no compassion or care, as badly as they treat their owners. Took my dog for surgery, they didn't operate on him as scheduled, but 7 hours later without ever calling me. I had to call to check on his status. Then they were in a hurry for me to pick him up because they wanted to go home. The day after the surgery they didn't even call to check on him, as every single clinic does.They charge you for the surgery follow-up visit (no one else does), but in this case, Dr. Gates didn't even have time for the follow up visit. She recommended a follow-up visit two weeks after the surgery, but couldn't see the dog for about 4 weeks. Horrible place, horrible people. Incredibly expensive. They'll change their original estimate in a second and for no reason. They'll get as much money from you as they can, and couldn't care less about the animal. I'll take my dog for a follow-up to another doctor, another clinic. Please don't take your animals to this place. Don't do that to them, and to yourself.

This Veterinary Hospital is amazing. I was having to bring my 10 year old Pitt mix here do some pain she was having in her hips. They went over every option we had, we started a medication plan for her. But to no avail nothing seemed to help her. I cant remember our vets name for Zeva but she was amazing with us. I knew by the third visit that we were going to have to start the end of life process because she was just in so much pain. Our vet walked us through the whole process and let us have a more privet comfortable room to say our good bye's. She was very accommodating while i was grieving over my loss , gave me as much time as i needed. They even worked with us on payment for her end of life process. I will deferentially be taking all my animals here the staff is amazing. To top it off today in the mail i received a card with foot prints of my baby and sweet note from the staff.
