I'm not a stranger to Aloft hotels and we've always been satisfied with them. This particular in Brooklyn is in a great location downtown Brooklyn and located near the sub station that goes to Manhattan. It is definitely smaller than the others we've been to and slightly less nice. The feel that we got, especially in the rooms, is of being in a flipped house. The style is lively, very pop, but the execution is poor to say the list. There were blotches of paint where they weren't supposed to be, you can see the separation between the floor and the furniture in the powdery room and the bathroom fossett handle was broken I made sure to go downstairs to tell them that we found it broken in case they kept the incident fee. Our room was close to the elevators and we could hear everything. As soon as we got to the room I thought that the room was decently good but could have been cleaned better, but the second day whoever cleaned it did an excellent job so it depends on the cleaning staff I guess. There is root top bar that I have not tried and they have a small area in the lobby with drinks and muffins and bagels for breakfast/snacks but there are many cafes around for a better breakfast. Like in every Aloft there is a billiard table in the lobby, and a couple of seating areas. Overall we enjoyed the hotel and it was one of the cheapest in Brooklyn. Probably in the future we'll try another hotel if the prices of other hotels are more comparable. There is still a lot to work on this Aloft.
Room is comfort, room service at least for me was great. Very attentive to details. As for Front desk, very much uncomfortable moments when they gave our rooms away, or not having them ready on time, reservations not appearing in their system, the payment arrangements they seem not to manage well trips job related. Coffee not available before 9am. But at the end I can say the staff was cooperative and humble. Just need to get better trained staff to add Front desk
I love the Aloft chain. They are always so accommodating, friendly and the hotel is lovely but quiet near the rooms. I appreciate being able to bring my dogs and enjoy the activities the provide on the main level. At this particular Aloft, I had a city view on the 22nd floor with two windows, which was beautiful. The room was clean, the shower was nice and had great pressure. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Nestled in the city with great access to many places to eat and shop nearby. Parking isn't the best, but I wouldn't knock any stars due to it. Rooms: Clean and full of amenities Nearby activities: Nestled in the town Safety: Felt very safe Walkability: 5 out of 5
The staff at this hotel is incredible--friendly, helpful and accommodating. I requested a late check-out and was granted it generously! The restaurant on the 24th floor serves delicious food. The location is excellent, as well. It is in an area that has numerous restaurant and stores for shopping. I highly recommend the Aloft!Rooms: 5/5
Don't stay here. This hotel is a joke. I've been moved to 3 different rooms in my short stay here. First room reeked of cigarette smoke. Second room, TV didn't work and I was told to "wait for it to fix itself" not how that works by the way, and my third room had no working heater or air conditioning. Each room had empty shampoo or shower gel containers in the shower. Half if not more of the TV channels don't work, assuming your TV works at all. The WiFi constantly cuts in and out, making business travel very difficult. The phones don't work at all so heaven forbid you have an emergency and need to call 911 or something. The bar and pool area isn't open and based on other reviews haven't been open in months. Literally, the only thing this hotel has going for it currently, is it's proximity to subway locations and the awesome underground food court a block away. Forget trying to talk to a manager or anything because they're never available or on-site. Marriott should strip this site of it's branding, it's sad. I'm adding this as it happened recently. Housekeeping either stole or discarded an item I needed for work. It was clearly not trash. I was offered ZERO compensation or apology. The front desk barely seemed to care nor escalated my issue to be properly resolved. I can only say again, DO NOT STAY HERE.
I stayed 4 nights in August 2022. The hotel was a little warm upon entering, it didn’t have that cool hotel feeling. The hallways smelled like weed. The room was small. The bathroom was dingy. One of the towels has a large hole. In it. The refrigerator was under the sink. The best thing about the room was the air conditioning. It’s okay if you just need a place to crash for one night. I won’t be going back there.
A bit run down with old fashioned A/C units that never stop running like in a cheap motel. Some lights were out in the room and panels off the wall in the hallway showing general lack higher end hotel maintenance. But the rooms have been retrofitted and are spacious by Manhattan standards. Neighborhood is downtown Brooklyn which lacks the charm of a lot of the surrounding neighborhoods. Check in was fine, but like most Marriott properties, they ask you to repeat the check in process even if you've done it in the app, which is always obnoxious. Just give me a hard key.
If I could give this hotel 0 stars, I would. Super sketchy. I could not get myself to take a shower there even if somebody would pay me. Rude staff, wouldn’t even acknowledge you or say hello. The hallways & elevators smell really bad. It seemed pretty ok in the pictures but the room itself is far from advertised look. Nothing would work. Everything is either broken or filthy. The only thing that’s good is the location. I will be disputing this stay with my bank for sure.
The first time I stayed in aloft about 4 months ago, the hotel was clearly under construction. It was dirty, dust everywhere, service at the lobby was horrible. They switched us rooms twice!!! After my 4 horrible and overpriced nights at this aloft. I decided to give it another chance. This time it was even worse, although they have advanced construction the hotel was still filthy. At night there was a leak in the ceiling which caused our whole room to flood, leading to shoes and clothes getting soaked. The lobby didn't seem to care, they gave us a room on the 5th floor. WE had to transport all our stuff. NEVER coming back to this hotel and I hope this review helps you analyze before you book your room.
Unbelievable, Unprofessional. Avoid this place if you can. I checked into my room Feb 10 for a two night stay. When I got into the room from a night out, they’re literally roaches on the bathroom shower and walls. I immediately told the front desk and he said the manager would arrive in the morning. The manager didn’t arrive until late that afternoon and said the most he could do was transfer to another. No apologies, no free night for the distress. It was gross. He also said it was nothing he could do until pest control arrives on Monday to assess. I will already be out of the room by that time. Please avoid this Marriot building. I can’t upload the video to this site but it was definitely roaches.
