A wealthy Nebraska banker constructed a Hollywood Hills mansion named Julieta in 1909. Today its a public park where you can stroll the grounds of the historic house with its overgrown remains of a Japanese tea house, tumbled stone architectural columns and rose arbors, all blossoming under towering palms along the rolling lawn. Great views of Mid-City Los Angeles and the Wattles Farm just below the park.

Psst. Keep this a secret. We don't want tourists and valley people showing up and crowding up the place. Clean up after your dog and put your trash in the bin. In other words: just be a decent human being.

This park is a favorite of mine for hiking and observing nature. Right in the heart of Los Angeles - nestled in the Hollywood Hills and with fantastic views of the city, local mountains and Pacific Ocean on clear days - this park affords the public a quiet and enjoyable escape from the stress of normal life below. With multiple trails available that lead to and connect with the more travelled hiking trails of Runyan Canyon, this park provides an access to Runyan that is ideal if you want less-crowded ingress and egress points on the Hollywood side the hill. (In addition, you can actually find a place to park your vehicle along North Curson Avenue.). The entrance to the Wattles Dog Park and Wattles Garden Park is through the HUGE gates just passed the Wattles Mansion on North Curson just North of Hollywood Blvd. I'm always looking for people to hike with me! Contact me if you want a buddy to go with... but my recommendation is that you go and have a great day outdoors!

If you are looking for a quiet place to have a quick picnic, but don't want to drive far, this is the place. Usually very few people and plenty of street parking. If you feel motivated, you can easily walk over to Runyon Canyon and have a quick hike.
