This review takes the price into consideration. I paid $100/night including taxes. Be sure to book directly with the hotel to get the best rate. The owners are super-nice, and that goes a long way. It's the perfect place to stay if you have a family member staying overnight at the hospital (free parking). The rooms are partially renovated - new TV's, some new furniture, new floors. I recommend requesting the top floor, as those rooms have newer bathrooms and newer heating/AC units. My only complaint is the water pressure of the newer showers is too light.
One side note: I forgot my phone charger in the room, and they were able to find it and get it back to me. O don't think you will find a hotel this nice for this price anywhere in the Bay Area.

Just arrived back in the bay and this is my first choice to stay. The owners are very nice and the rooms are very clean. The location is great and there are plenty of places close by to eat and be entertained. Great place come and see for yourself.

I stayed at the Westwind lodge in Oakland for four days. The rooms are a little smaller than some hotels but big enough to be comfortable.  I slept very well there.  The bed was very comfortable.  The AC worked well and the environment was quiet.  There is a gate that can only be opened by key card leading up to the second floor so the hotel is very secure.  Hot water also was very good.  It is a family run place and they were very nice and helpful.  The price is great.  It is walking distance to BART although late at night you could probably Uber it for three or four dollars.  I enjoyed my stay.  A great value.

Stayed two nights here, it is cheap but that does not me there is a compromise on quality. Great place to stay if you are planning to spend some time in San Francisco but don't want to pay the exorbitant SF hotel prices. Would stay again.
