Ye Old King's Head in downtown Santa Monica is a perfect little pub/ restaurant. We came here looking for delicious English food and were not disappointed. I started my meal off with the bangers and mash and they were banging. My wife got the steak, Guinness, and mushroom pie and it had an incredible flavor profile. We got the rhubarb crumble as our desert and it was heavenly. The bird custard is to die for. If your from the UK and you miss home, you’ll find it here at Ye Olde King’s Head. I went with a friend to watch the England vs France game during the 2022 World Cup. While unfortunately England lost thanks Harry Kane, it was a lively atmosphere that you won’t find anywhere else around this area. Yelling, chanting, screaming and singing. It’s all passion. I ordered the Queen Size English Breakfast. It’s a solid hearty meal with eggs over easy, Heinz beans with tomato sauce that goes great with toast, roasted tomatoes, bacon more like ham and a banger sausage. No complaints here. I originally just came for some pints of Guinness but the meal was exactly as I expected. The rest of the menu has a lot of British staples, like Shepherds Pie and Fish and Chips. I recommend the Sausage Rolls! The service was slow, but the place was at max capacity and I commend the servers for doing their best during one of the busiest days of the year at the Kings Head essentially any day England has a big game. If you plan on going to a football game soccer, expect a line the second they open. They don’t allow holding tables, so make sure your whole group is with you. If your going on a causal weekday/ weekend, you won’t have to worry. I absolutely love this place. It’s location also makes it a great pit stop if your a tourist. Can’t wait for the next England game and the memories to follow! COME ON ENGLAND!
It was very good, my fries could have been a little fresher but still good... Also, I didn't complain so I didn't give them a chance to correct, i think they would have. Christine was very nice and fun. Next time I'm in town, I'd be glad to return. Let me know if you want to try it out next time I return.
Great service in traditional British pub setting. Plenty of seating both indoor & outdoor. Good selection of food & also several beers on draft. Evening karaoke goers livened up an already fun pub atmosphere. Located in heart of downtown Santa Monica, nearby central shopping district.
Savory and delicious food. Ordered the chicken and mushroom pie, clam chowder and brussel sprouts. I got full rather quickly and had to get a doggy bag. Our waitress was bright, cheerful and witty. We enjoyed her. Would definitely go back to this establishment.
I love this place. The prices have gone up but so has the quality. Had some Black and Tans and the fish and chips. That fish is crispy and oh so light! Delicious! The fish portions are large so I got the queen size which comes with one piece of fish. The king size comes with two pieces. Plus chips fries I also got some pickled onions as a side. Delicious!! Those were a good snack to go along with my beer! The tartar sauce is also yummy. I like to mix it with lemon juice, ketchup and the vinegar. Mix it all up and enjoy! Our bill came with an extra charge but the waitress corrected that. So just check your receipt before you pay. The weekends get busy busy there. Oh! And before you leave make sure to visit the shop next door. They have great English treats and souvenirs. The English butter biscuits are yummy. All in all delicious. I didn’t get better photos. I was too busy eating it haha
This is our first time eating at an authentic British restauarant. I got the guiness steak. There was a hair or a plastic piece inside my gravy but the staff gave me a new side of gravy. They even took my plate off the menu as well as free dessert! Wow! Definitely recommend trying this restaurant. Everything was delicious
A true gem in Santa Monica! The food, drink, and hospitality are exceptional—everything is amazing! I am blown away by how delicious the sausage roll and fish and chips are! The environment is pretty special too. I am so glad we found this place—we will be back!
Top notch Irish pub. The shepherd’s pie was really good, the farmers market scramble was nice as well. Huge portions and good service. Definitely a great place to dine if you happen to be in the Santa Monica area.
I would like to complain about the service. It was too good. Christine was literally the best. Food was great. I had the beyond burger. Beer was great. I had a couple pints of Boddington's. I loved their whole vibe. Only negative is this lady customer and her kid, clearly having a bad day and wanting to ruin everyone else's, including the amazing staff here. We were all offended on their behalf. The staff here are saints. Vegetarian options: There is a Beyond Burger you can get without mayo.
