5th & Taylor

Story

At 5th & Taylor, Chef Daniel Lindley pays homage to the American family meal. The menu, familiar yet refined expressions of traditional American fare, is inspired by the Sunday dinners of Chef Lindley’s childhood. Embodying the spirit of the American craftsman, 5th & Taylor features handmade furniture, fixtures and artwork in an expansive historic Germantown warehouse. The airy main dining room, bar and lounge provide ample space for dining or relaxing. The restaurant also features private raised dining rooms accommodating up to 70 guests. Shielded from the city by evergreens, the relaxing patio encourages a neighborhood atmosphere and departure from the bustling city.

I really enjoyed my experience here while I was in Nashville for work. The waitress was really nice and helpful when I asked for recommendations. Also the environment was really nice and it would be a great place to bring a date. I had the beef tartare which was a first for me. It had a lot of flavor and was a generous portion. For my entree I had the braised veal shoulder. It was very tender and it went really well with the gravy and squash. I wish I would have done a dessert but I was very full by the time I was done with my entree.

The reservation process was a bit of a challenge... it would be nice to speak with a person or do Open Table instead of having to go through Yelp for reservations. I would also recommend to the management that if they allow voice messages to be left, that someone check them. I made a reservation on Yelp and then called after 5 when they reopened in order to modify it (We wanted to sit outside) and no one checked the voice mail prior to our arrival at 6:30. That all being said, the host and hostess rebounded nicely, were very pleasant and made our request happen. The server was amazing... very friendly, very attentive, on top of her game. Every staff member who came to our table was friendly. The decor is very “back patio” and it’s comfortable and casual. We loved the fire pit and the fountain outside and he inside is rustic with clean lines and it smells...delightful. The food was amazing. Simple, well plated, seasoned perfectly, portions were just the right size. I think the idea of having the sides more of a “share” portion is very smart. We had the cheese platter, beet salad, beef tartare, beer can chicken, veal shoulder and swordfish with mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese and corn bread. My son and daughter in law are locals and love this place... I was visiting for the weekend and we will all be back. Well done!

We received such excellent service from our waiter, John David, and he was willing to give us recommendations based on what we told him we like. We started with an appetizer, the sausage/cheddar biscuits and a bowl of the white bean/lobster/roasted red pepper soup for my husband. Then my husband had Beef Zabuton and I had the Halibut entree and we both agree that we would order the same things again, given the opportunity. Beautiful presentation, nice atmosphere, and food was excellent. Loved the decor and the revitalization of the neighborhood. We will visit again on our next trip to Nashville.

Good food. Charcuterie was tasty. Staff were nice and stick around to answer our questions. A little pricey for the level of date offered. Quirky takes on basics such as fish and fried chicken and sides were interesting but don't quite rise to the level of price they want to command.

This place is special. Ask for Katie for your waitstaff. She'll ensure you have a fun evening. Start with the sausage biscuit. Duck, short rib, veal. sea food all spectacular. Save room for dessert
