Avila / Pismo Beach KOA

Story

The comforts of a small beachside town and the quiet of a beautiful California canyon await at the Avila/Pismo Beach KOA. The surrounding hills protect the Cabins and 50-amp hookup sites from ocean fog. The temperate weather means campers can enjoy the nearby trails and pet-friendly bike path year-round. Also on-site are all the amenities of home, including a laundry facility, showers, swimming pool, gaming room and a kids' play area. A free trolley stops at local attractions Thursday through Sunday and on holiday Mondays. (Trolley service ends October 20.) Everyone enjoys the petting zoo, hayrides and a destination farm just across the street from the campground. Nearby, you can visit vineyards and a farmers' market, along with the quaint communities of Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo. Explore the natural wonders of Pismo State Beach and Pismo Dunes Natural Preserve.Pool: Open all year. Max pull thru: 42 feet.

We arrived 30 minutes early for check in. The manager was unbelievably rude. Yes, she had said check in was at 1pm, but 12:30pm is just slightly early and the campground was empty. Absolutely no one in the entire row we were going to be in. We spend months at a time in KOA campgrounds and never have we been treated so rudely. She lectured us about how no one wants to be told no these days. We cancelled our reservation on the spot and went to a much friendlier campground. We will never return to that campground at any point.

This place was awesome! The managers were so kind and understanding. We had a crapper hose burst and cleanup pushed us two hours past check out. They didn’t charge us. Instead they told us to take our time and get on when we could. I really like this place and would recommend it.

We stayed in a deluxe cabin, blue and white, more like a small trailer. It was totally self contained and very clean. Went for a combined family weekend with my daughters in laws, who have an RV, and grand kids. Our stay was really enjoyable, in fact we stayed an extra day. Every staff member we dealt with were very helpful and nice. Enjoyed the free wine tasting on Sat. Some reviews have stated freeway noise, we did not encounter any however our cabin was away from the 101, some cabins back up to the freeway. The free Trolley service to and from Avila/Pismo Beach was an added plus, pick up/drop off very close to the park. Will definitely be going back.

Great campground about 5 miles south of SLO and a couple miles north of Pismo Beach. 3 mile bike path to the beach. Winery and hot springs pool within walking distance just a couple blocks away. Lots of restaurants and wine tasting in the area!
