It can be very, very difficult to back even a short trailer into most of these campsites. And, in some of the campsites, you have to climb a steep and rugged path to get to the picnic table and fire ring. But, if you do make it here, and you like getting up close to wildlife, this place delivers. I was parked here late one night last year. The campsite was just across the paved road from a creek. I was sitting in my truck, diddling with my cell phone - no reception here, my friends - when I heard a very large animal give everything it had to catch another animal down in the creek bed. I'd heard the beast before at night, turning over boulders down in the creek bed, searching for morsels. But this night it chased prey, from the far side of the creek bed, and up the embankment onto my side. The beast ended up so close to me, while sitting in the cab of my pickup truck, that I could hear it catch its breath. So close, that I could tell it was heaving air through its open mouth, not its nose. Now, did I see a bear? No. Did I hear a bear so close to me that I could tell it was catching its breath by gulping air through its mouth, not its nose? YES! And it was terrifying. I had a box of Mickey D's chicken tenders sitting beside me in the cab, and I know the bear could smell them. And, I know a bear can peel off my truck door with little or no effort. So, to cut to the chase - so to speak - I've not been back. And I will never forget what it sounds like to hear a bear pant through its mouth. It sounds way too close!

Sweet spot that's local but feels far away, remote on the trails. Well kept trail system also.

The place is beautiful and one of my favorite hikes around but being a local and being charged $10 just to park, hike and leave has made me stay away more than I would like to. I wish locals had some consideration, especially for trail runners who would only be there for less than 2 hours. I would come here every month if I could afford it

Nice secluded camping. Limited facilities (no showers) and the warden is a bit of a jobsworth. But it's good value for the price!

Clean quiet campground with friendly hosts. Great spot to camp for nearby interesting locations. Priced right for Seniors too.
