We camped out there last week, not on the designated campground but rather 10miles up on the hill side. As someone said, there are flies and bugs all around, but what would you expect in the wild/forest. We took enough water and wood. We saw snakes, Coyotes, various birds that you don't see in city outskirts. The skyline view was fantastic. Night lite up with a blanket of stars over the head. It was truly majestic. Overall, its nice place to 'camp' i believe.

There are tons of spots along this road for free camping, plenty of room for an RV. The road in is paved, but a bit windy and narrow at parts. The closer you get towards big Sur / hwy 1 the dryer it gets, but within 10 miles of this camp ground there are 10-20 great spots right along the gorgeous creek.

Greg Moore, think we found your Patagonia hat . . . Curiously, looks like the one in your photos. We were there June 23rd. Go to WishesWereFishes for contact information and we'll get it back to you. . . .

The place is around 11 miles off the road and the road is curvy all the way. Place is full of flies in middle of day , no water in creek , and the pit toilet were smelling too much. We had to start fire in middle of hot day to get rid of flies . Place is isolated so make sure you take enough water and food and wood .
