Prior to doing business with this location, I was a die-hard Budget loyalist.  I rented 4 times from this location over an 8 week period.  3 of the times were fine and problem-free.

My most recent rental was for a business trip, picking up on Sep 14.  I usually interact with the owner/operator who I find friendly.  This afternoon, they had a different employee.  The guy in front of me was having trouble with his card, so she attempted to ring up my reservation.  She got an error when she swiped my card (the same error as the previous guy).  She was on the phone with some unknown guy who I guess was running support for her, and he told her my card had been declined.

I called my bank, and they told me that no transaction had occurred, and they had declined nothing.  It was very obvious to me that they were having technical issues.

She switched to a different terminal and ran the other guy's card again with the same problem.  He ran another card and succeeded that time.  She ran my card again with the same problem, then my debit card.  The same problem occurred with my debit card, and you could hear the guy on the line telling her to "send him on his way."

I get that problems come up, but it was clear that they were mostly interested in closing up shop, and had pretty much no interest in figuring out what their problems were and getting me in a car.

So I lost my reservation and quite a bit of time going to the airport, where Hertz had no issues whatsoever accepting the same card, and seemed pretty happy to do so.

The hassle was definitely not worth it, and I don't want to risk losing another reservation and dealing with another last-minute drive to the airport to rent a car.  There are a few other car rental places in the area, so I guess I'll try them out.

Terrible customer service and the vehicles are never clean.  Sites not always staffed during open hours.

It's handy because they are close to home. Otherwise the cars are always dirty and the posted hours are at the discretion of when whoever is scheduled to work wants to show up

The Hertz in Mount Juliet is a disaster. I've done about five rentals at this Avis and all have worked great.
