Barlow serves approximately 750 patients per year from Southern California and beyond. Patients come to Barlow for its expert, compassionate care from around the nation, and even from overseas.

50% of Barlow patients are admitted for our internationally-recognized Ventilator Weaning Program. Many people return easily to independent breathing after being hospitalized for a short period of time. But some have tremendous difficuly recovering due to underlying respiratory illness. Barlow treats the most critically ill patients needing long-term acute care.

My husband was at Barlow recently and I was very pleased with the Nursing Staff especially the Nursing Assistants. The social worker and our case manager were exceptional. I wasn’t 100 percent pleased with physical therapy, but we weren’t there for PT. The Respiratory Department is efficient and professional. They were always available to us, but I never needed to summon them they were frequently making rounds. I would definitely encourage others needing Respiratory Therapy to go to Barlow. Thank you to all the staff who provided excellent service to my husband! Sandra

The supervisor little Filipino woman constantly tries to micromanage Marivic. She also does not use enough English around you while she is talking. The only time she ever talk to her employee that speak English is when she has A PROBLEM with them .Dont work here IF YOU ARE A monitor tech or nurse because they treat you like your the lowest person on earth. and many of the other charge nurses treat you like dirt if you work with them. dont be treated like dirt dont work here and stick up for your self,

The staff very rude let my husband dirty in his hands of pope made me get medicine from outside pharmacy that's illegal lost his stuffing animal and killed him he was doing ok a day before that morning his blood pressure drop to low and die don't bring your family here

Some of the staff here are genuinely abusive to the patients. I have 3 witnesses to this behavior. They are dangerously understaffed, and unsanitary. They use wash clothes as diapers, and then wash the soiled cloths and use them to wash a patient's face. I will be reporting them to the state. I was won over by their glowing reviews. They hide the bad reviews and they drug their patients with multiple psychoactive drugs in order to keep them from complaining. It is really a very sad situation. Many of their patients can't talk because they are on a ventilator. A nurse told me a lot of the patients are out of it, but now that I see that they handle complaints by drugging their patients I imagine some of them weren't admitted in that state. The family has no idea what's going on in many cases because the doctors do not communicate medication changes. I had an outside doctor review my loved one's medication list and they found that the amount of psychoactive drugs being given (especially since there was never any history of needing it prior) was excessive and could cause cognitive damage. Please spare your loved one this abuse and avoid Barlow at all costs. If your loved one isn't an easy case they won't see them through the weaning process even though they advertise that they do. It's all smoke and mirrors. Not to mention they have a caseworker named Clare who is the most unpleasant, vile human being you've ever met. She is incredibly rude, and it is all a front for the fact that she does not do her job and if you question her she will insult and degrade you. She yelled at me for no reason. Then tried to tell me the three lawyers I spoke with were wrong because she was right. She provided no other basis or fact other than she is right. Clare is apparently omnipotent. The advertising does not match the service nor care you will receive at this facility. They act as though they care about the family and the struggles of having an ill loved one. However the behavior of their staff says the opposite. Especially when dealing with Clare, who I am filing a formal complaint about. I'll give them 2 stars only because the doctors, nurses, and respiratory therapists are actually skilled and kind.

I got my flu shot here. Service was professional, quick, and polite aside from no lollipop.
