Well, called to ask about some gas line work. Specifically asked if they could do the work right at the appointment, or if it would be a "quote now work later" situation. Was informed by call center staff that they had workshops on wheels and virtually anything could be done.
Plumbers arrive, and what was supposed to be a simple "blow some water out of the gas lines" became an $11,000 "you need new gas lines everywhere" quote. I asked about just blowing the water out and was told it would just "get right back in there". Fine, do it anyhow. "Well, we'd need to pull permits with the city and your gas could be off for several days"...

Since the call was exclusively about gas lines, yet no work could be done on the gas lines without shutting them off for days - I declined to pay the appointment charge and asked them to have someone from the office contact me.

Pricing seems ridiculously high to run a few pipes (7k to run 40' outdoor/underground?)

I had service done in my master bath room due to a leak.  Because I was replacing the vanity, the plumber put caps on the pipes.  Come to find out later that these are not the type of caps you can just pull off, you need a special tool.  Luckily I found the tool at Ace Hardware for $2 after spending nearly a half hour stuck on the phone with their call center who refused to give me the contact information an actual plumber and said the only way any one would come take those off would be if I paid a $60 visit fee and the cost for whatever labor.  Seems pretty shady to put something on that I can't remove without paying them to get it off again.
