Great staff who knew the area and were extremely friendly and helpful. If you can get in this is the place to stay for visitors to the lab. Couldn't be more convenient for meetings on site. Comfortable and not expensive. The views over the bay are outstanding and can't be praised highly enough. The only downside is that you do need to drive, or Uber, if you want a decent meal in the evening.

Aesthetically, this place is great. All of the furniture and accommodations are modern and the wifi is good. The views from the west side is the building are great. However, there are some random things that make things much less comfortable. The beds have an overly fluffy pillow top and the pillows are gigantic. The heater can't be controlled by the user and makes the night very hot and full of weird noises. The bathroom light turns on and off randomly and inconveniently since it's automatic. Overall, it's still definitely the best option for attending events at the lab though

Perfectly adequate for visitors to the Lab who are there for serious business, the guest house is clean, comfortable, and quiet. The service is good but keep in mind these are government accommodations, yes they are happy to help you, but no, this is not a spa where your every whim will be catered to. I can't recommend staying here if you don't bring a car. The Lab shuttle bus will get you there Monday through Friday except late at night, but not on weekends. Uber and Lyft can pick you up but it isn't the easiest spot to find, and you will need to work with the front desk if they get stuck at the gate. The Lab cafe is nearby but has limited hours, and anything else is a 20-30 minute walk over sterp terrain. So, you can manage without a car but downtown Berkeley is a much better choice in that caae. The rates are reasonable but not what most of the country would consider economical.

I did not end up using the Guest House facilities, but they have a small gift shop with cool mugs and t shirts, the place has amazing views though.

Experience is what can be expected for a national lab guest house. Adequate and comfortable. A bit difficult getting on and offsite but also more affordable than most hotels in the area.
