Berkeley City Club is a Private Social Club, Historic Hotel, Event Venue & Fine Dining Restaurant.

Story

Renowned Architect Julia Morgan designed the Berkeley Women's City Club. The Club was the collective vision of its 4000 female members. The lush gardens and courtyards provided sanctuary. A library and roaring fireplace brought great friends and conversation together. An invigorating pool enlivened body and spirit. More than a building, the Women's City Club fulfilled dreams.

Today, the Berkeley City Club is a private club for both men and women, and a meeting place for Berkeley's arts and culture community. Morgan's "Little Castle" has been renovated and is an exciting destination hotel for architecture-lovers and a favorite venue for weddings and special occasions.

More than a building, the Berkeley City Club continues to inspire friendships, celebrate beauty and nourish dreams.

Mission

The mission of the Berkeley City Club is to promote a sense of fellowship for its membership and the broader community by providing a venue for cultural, educational, and civic events, including swimming and dining, by operating an historic hotel and event destination available to the public, and by preserving an historic landmark.

Breakfast is open to Hotel Guest and Members only
7-days a week from 7am - 10am
Lunch: Tuesday - Friday, 11:30am - 2:00pm
Dinner: Tuesday - Saturday, 5pm - 8:30pm
Cocktail Lounge: Tuesday - Saturday, 4:30pm - 8:00pm

Private Heated Indoor Pool Hours:

Everyday, 5:00am - 10:00pm

The Pool is closed on Wednesday evenings from 7pm-10pm for cleaning

I live the feel of this hotel. It's like going back in time, even the horror movie-esque elevators looked cool. However, the rooms are a little bit small, and no air conditioning in room could be bad. I personally don't mind though, just a warning.

We attended a dinner on the second floor. The structure is by Julia Morgan and a lovely example of her architecture. Convenient parking was a block away. Good service. The food was above average.

This is a historic building with beautiful architecture. It has a hotel, clubhouse type functions, and also banquet/event space. I stayed there for a couple nights in the hotel. The room I stayed in was small and didn't have a TV or desk or other contemporary amenities, but it was still a nice place to stay. The room was well maintained and housekeeping did a superb job. There is free continental breakfast, which was minimal but decent quality. They also offer free coffee, Harney teas, and filtered water. There are communal refrigerators on every floor I believe, and a beautiful pool. There is paid parking available. The service was excellent and the employees were all very cordial and helpful.

Interesting old building in secluded location. Dead quiet. Rooms are primitive with no climate controls, TV, desk or sitting chair. Bathroom had peeling paint and ancient fixtures.

The location is fantastic and the architecture is absolutely wonderful. Also parking is easy in the area. Very good venue.
