My eye exam was good. My experience in the optical shop was terrible. I have been wearing and getting glasses for over 50 years and this is the first time getting glasses from this office, it will be the last.

If you go to Carolina Eye Care be prepared to not leave until two or more hours after your scheduled appointment time. They have severely overbooked every time that I have been there, and Dr. Reuther never shows any remorse for making you wait so long. He is very unfriendly and cold. They also continued to give me the third degree about sleeping in my contacts and acted as though I was lying to them about sleeping in them, even though I never do. Although I made my appointment weeks in advance, they did not bother to verify my insurance information prior so I had to pay full price, but they refused to give me an itemized receipt, and they have yet to issue a refund (over two months later) even though I have received the bill from my insurance company, and I should be receiving about $50 back. Lastly, Dr. Reuther prescribed me extremely expensive contacts (Acuvue Oasys) - they run about $70/box as opposed to $25-30/box that the rest of the Acuvue contacts cost. Even if he thought they would be better for my eyes, he should have made me aware of the price difference prior to prescribing them. I'm sure another type of Acuvue contacts would have sufficed, as that's what I've been wearing for years. As a result, my insurance only covered a little over half of my contact prescription, when it usually covers all of it. Needless to say, I will not be seeing Dr. Reuther again in the future.

So I had an appointment with Carolina Eyecare last week. I don't have insurance and paid with a credit card. Was charged $150.00 just for an eye exam because I don't have insurance!!! Normal cost would have been $89.00 w/ insurance. Also, thought my doctor was very rude! Needless to say, Im still having eye issues and out $150.00. I don't recommend this place or the doctor!!!
