The place looks simple from the outside compared the flashiness of other locations nearby. Don't let this fool you, the food and service was excellent! Our seafood was fresh and well seasoned.

I had the shrimp Baja salad. It was delish, the server was very helpful in selecting our late lunch choices. My husband had the shrimp and grits and said it was fantastic.. For those who aren't into sea food. They do have other items in the menu. My youngest who is beyond picky enjoyed the grill cheese . And my oldest had a plain cheese burger with very large waffle fries. Our whole experience was great and we hope to come back again on our next vacation.

The rooftop dining option was perfect on the lovely Charleston evening we ate here. The menu had great choices as did the kid's menu. I picked the Grilled Seafood Trio and was very pleased. The cod, shrimp, and scallops we nicely seasoned and grilled to perfection. Our server, Ernst, was both friendly and helpful in all aspects (which included dealing with a picky 6-year old). My wife had the grilled salmon salad and was equally pleased. Both kids amazingly ate everything they ordered which is in itself a review. Next visit to Charleston we'll go back to the Charleston Crab House.

Hmm, not bad but far from the best crab house we've been to. This is definitely located in the historic (i.e. tourist / white) area of Charleston, and it shows in a number of items. The hush puppies were good with the cinnamon honey butter. The steamed shrimp, crab legs, and such (both in the pot and the Carolina platter) were well done. Nothing to complain about on the she-crab soup. And the service was very good. But... the collard greens were very bland - definitely not made with any vinegar. And when we asked for vinegar to add, of course he wanted to offer us malt vinegar (no!) or red wine vinegar. Luckily he was able to get white vinegar from the kitchen. The grits were milky and bland, lacking salt or much else in the way of seasoning. And the crab cake was very heavy on filler, tasting more of breading than crab.

Brought a group of 20 in for an early dinner. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Food and drinks were great. Softshell crab was delicious.
