The hidden treasure of our trip to Pittsburgh. Throwback "greasy spoon." One of the most delicious omelets I have had in years. Literally. Delicious coffee.
We we're staying downtown and walked to Cherry's. Great breakfast, everything was just like I like it. Eggs were perfect, sausage patties also. The potatoes were great, crisp and delicious. Family that owns the restaurant were welcoming and friendly.
I ordered the early bird special. This will be the last time I eat their breakfast. The eggs tasted rubbery and bacon was old and left a bad taste in my mouth. The home fries tasted old as well. I ordered an English muffin and it was soggy. I was going to take the food back but last time the I seen a person complain the owner yelled at them and demanded they leave. I wanted to avoid that cuz if he would go off on me I would of thrown that food every where. But I digress . I paid 16 bucks for my food. The quality should of been way better. That's my last time giving them my money.
No decaffeinated coffee. No brewed ice tea. It's breakfast food and wasn't even good. Asked for water 3 times. Finally came out when are food did. They don't give you a check at the table. Have to go to the cashier. Everything about this place. Wasn't good. Only reason why they are prob in business. People have to eat and it's convenient... for location. Very small place. So you can't even blame it on being busy. Parking: Horrible.
Food is very good and reasonably priced, coffee is good too, small place but good atmosphere , no real parking except in pay parking garage around the corner or if you’re lucky to get a spot on the street but it’s pay parking everywhere in Pittsburgh
This restaurant provided wonderful service and delicious meals during my time in Pittsburgh. My family and I loved the place!
Great no-frills diner in Market Square. The food is your usual eggs/toast/meat/pancakes diner fare, but it's not as greasy. In fact, nothing I've had there has ever been greasy or tasted heavy. This is a great thing! The servers are quick and friendly. I don't need or want a lot of attention from wait staff in a diner, so this place is perfect if you just want a bite to eat and time to have your thoughts to yourself. I appreciate the turkey bacon/sausage and vegetarian sausage options. My only complaint is that I wish the coffee was stronger.
This food was just okay....the worst part was another customer started cursing out the woman who was cleaning off his table that she was taking too long and he wanted to sit down. They yelled and screamed at each other and it was super uncomfortable. Overall this place was odd ...the woman who set our table and got our drinks had black dirt under her fingernails and it was nasty...would so NOT recommend
This is another side-street find. Yes it is close to a number of other restaurants, but you have to be looking to find Cherries Diner. Do not expect your fancy chain style place with a standard menu. This place is small with a to-the-point menu. What you can expect is good food and decent portions. The inside is very dated, but the prices and food make up for the decor. If you are looking for a quick and tasty breakfast, give Cherries a shot.
Simple, well made breakfast. Coffee was hot and plentiful. Waitstaff was exceedingly nice and attentive.
