Chico's Natural Pet Market invites you to visit the aquarium fish, pocket pets, and reptiles thriving in our carefully maintained habitats—as well as the exciting new Adoption Center where the hopeful kitties of Fancy Cats Rescue Team (http://www.fancycats.org) wait for that special someone.

• Why Chico is so peculiar?

As you know Chico’s Natural Pet Market is specialized in natural and holistic pet supplies and was named after one of my many rescued cats from Sao Paulo alleys. The business was started in 2015 by yours truly Danielle Areco. If you were wondering why Chico’s is so flamboyant and always have fun activities going on, here is a quick explanation. Before coming to America I was a TV personality and very popular entertainer in Brazil. Once in America I made a splash as Professional Ballroom/Latin Dancer and ran a successful event planning business in the DC area. My life-long interest in helping homeless animals and animal welfare lead to the opening of Chico’s as a franchise of a national chain. In July 2017 Chico’s broke away from the franchise and has become a totally independent store.

• Chico’s Mission:
Like all small, local business we face an uphill battle against the big box chains and online companies. To stand out from this competition we strive to create an exciting and inviting place for people and their pets to shop locally. There is always something serendipitous and different going on, from dog fashion shows & ice cream socials, to samba dancing and live music. We want to be a place for people and their pets to and hang out and enjoy themselves, not just another place to buy things.
In addition to being a fun place to shop we are also very committed to the local community. We donate a large area of our store to Fancy Cats Rescue Team, a local adoption group. Our events always have some type of fundraiser for the group tied into them. Our staff are all longtime local residents. We are committed to “made in America” and our goal is to have everything carry this label. Local, independent businesses keep jobs and tax dollars in our local communities.
