I have been coming here for 20 years. Beautiful location but am disappointed in new caretakers. They seem to enjoy harassing their visitors. Or at least was the case with me today. I was approached earlier today for the first time ever by an older park worker informing me I couldn't be in the pavilion area. I have been coming here since 1996 and never had an issue. He informed me it would be $30 if I wanted to stay. I literally stay at the park as a whole for maybe a half hour when I visit. I go just to sit at table, look at the water and leave. This gentleman was very self- important and seemed in the mood to hassle. He was also chasing after another visitor he felt was driving too fast. The $6 entry fee is also an annoyance for a 30 minute visit. Had been $3 for the longest so...Anyways, in conclusion, 2 stars for the beauty of the water but no more because of the worker and price increase. I am done with this place until new caretakers come in. Thumbs down for further privatization of America's public lands.

Great for the whole family. That's where I would want to spend most of my hot summer days.

Very well taken care of campground. Clean bathrooms/showers. Full service sites. Not terribly crowded. I feel like this place is a hidden gem. Smith Lake is a beautiful place to spend the weekend camping. You should camp here when you come. Bring supplies. Only ice and wood bundles are available from the office.
