Restrooms are clean. Stream runs past the sites on the outside loops. On the downside, the day hikers at the end of the campground FLY through the campground leaving and also there is NO place to fill up you R.V. water tank without blocking the road if you aren't near a spigot. Those leaving day hikers are not very patient.

Certainly one of the best large campgrounds in the Mammoth Lakes region of the Inyo National Forest. Very well maintained, generally quiet for as large as it is, nice hosts, cheap rates, and close to a bunch of trailheads and lakes. Also just about a five to ten minute drive into town if you need to get something.

The forestry service has replaced hundreds of vacationers by their lack of ability to foresee. Obviously we had a lot of snow. No secret. And obviously there will be a snow run off. DAH. But to announce just prior to June 30th that the campsites in the Mammoth lakes basin will not open until a month later is unprofessional, and irresponsible. You guys could have predicted. Your actions will ruin many families long awaited vacations. Easy for you to make the decision. You have no skin in the game. Their are many campsites in the Mammoth lakes basin that could and should be available. But you guys were to lazy to do the work. To arbitrarily close everthing to make life easier for you will damage the vacationers for sometime. Thanks for ruining thousands of peoples vacations because you were to slow to react or are to LAZY to do YOUR job that thousands relay on. My thoughts have come from the same thoughts of many people. Vacationers, RV rentals companies, etc. Well done.UGH.

A good place to camp for getting at the trails (hiking trails). For tents, it looks tough to find a flat spot. For rv's it's hit and miss for a level site. Like most California campgrounds, most sites are quite close to each other. A fair bit of vehicle traffic in the campground because 3 trail heads are at the end of the campground and each vehicle will pass by each camp site at least once (sometimes twice).
