We heard all about this campsite and wanted to give a try. For us it was a two year wait, last year we had to cancel our campsite booking due to bad weather. This year we finally made the trip during the 2017 memorial weekend. Yes, you do have to book these campsites at least 6 months in advance. There is no debate the lake area is really lovely and has some nice features with a general store complex, snack bar, movie theatre, beach access, boating and hiking options. However the other reviewers are correct about the crowds, lack of parking, close campsites, the rough campsite bathrooms (no showers), and the high noise levels. This is like camping in Yosemite at the height of summer in the fraction of the space. We recommend camping outside of the valley, staying in a remote cabin and just coming in for the day (6am-10pm for day parking). We are veteran campers and for us the night time noise was intense. We had at least three large groups in our area doing heavy partying with live music plus the sounds of the nearby open air movie theatre (D loop). We ended up leaving a day early just so we could get some rest, take a shower and escape from the noise. We would definitely come back in the future but we plan on sleeping elsewhere.

Very disappointed. Campsites are way to close together. And due to the lack of respect from the other campers. "Dad's and their kids" The kids were being kids but the dad's were disrespectful bums. Would not stay out of our camp site. I mean right outside the trailer and setting on our table putting their trash in our fire pit. Won't be back. Not the campgrounds fault for the campers behavior. Just to many inconsiderate people here for my likings.
