This is a great State Park just off the regular route from Minneapolis to Baxter. There is a nice self-guided tour of an almost forgotten ghost town. Great stop for a stretch on the ride north.

Nice small park. Conveniently located close to Brainerd. Campsites are large and well maintained. If you don't need electricity I would advise avoiding the main loop near the bathrooms. Those sites are right on top of each other. The outer loop sites are spaced much better. Nice easy hiking trails and the historic site is interesting to walk through.

Beautiful state park along the Mississippi. Camp sites were somewhat secluded and trails came right out of the main camp area. Only downside was it was pretty sandy. Still better than the gravel you find elsewhere.

Nice camping sits with no electric. Electric site could use some care. Not very level. Appears thes sits have not been graded for years. Bath house could use a lot of care. Mold in the corners, tile missing as well as caulk around Urnals. Building is sturdy but need some updating. Visited many state parks over the years but these bath rooms are by far the worse kept. Will not return until I know they have been taken care of.
