I have to write this review because before our stay there was not alot of info online. Beautiful grounds but small sites. We stayed at campsite #41 for 4 nights which is on a hill so we had a two level site. There were about 5 or 6 stairs to help with this so it worked it out. But this was unexpected since the picture from the website did not have pictures of the campsite. Grounds were clean and maintained although the bathrooms did get clogged for one day during our stay. Showers were nice and clean as they could be. And although the park rangers say that the showers are closed Tuesdays and thursdays they were open on a Thursday after we came back from a long day at the beach and kayaking. Tokens for showers are $1 each and provide 3mins of water. One token was enough for each of us if you prepare yourself before you start them. Another thing that was misleading from the website is that the water was right there. It is actually not! Since the grounds are on a mountain the beach is about a miles hike down to the beach. There are many ways to access the beach from the grounds but with kids you have to think about safety so the two main ways to access the beach from the grounds are behind campsite #65 where u will will find a path to the beach and behind campsite #47 where you will find a more rocky path but no sand just very sharp rocks and then water. Beautiful though. Would definetly return (to a different campsite).

Huge sprawling camp ground with amenities, lots of trees, and some views of Lake Tahoe. You have to pay extra if there is even a slight glimpse of the lake through the trees. Note you have to be careful to not leave food out, bears are all over the place. When we were there (early August), meat bees were really bad too, we didn't even bother cooking there because we knew they would be all over us. Also be aware that the fire pits aren't that great for cooking on, the way they are built you have to have a huge fire to reach the cooking gates (surprise, they sell fire wood there and you aren't supposed to gather any!). All that being said, it's still a nice place to camp.

Amazing camp site in the hills of Lake Tahoe where a short hike gets you down to the coast for swimming and fishing. Or even launching a kayak (or canoe) if you don't mind carrying it down. Be sure to get up early to watch the sunrise from the vista point at the tip of the peninsula.
