I have been dealing with Erie County Assistance Office for seniors programs for long time now. They are very good at communicating, and have always been very helpful and very nice and polite in taking care of all of our needs and questions. Thanks to my case worker Mr.Nelson and all other people that work at this office!
They never answer the phone. Even as I stood in the office she ignored the phone to talk to people in the office about nothing. They don't care. They make everything difficult. You have to harass the state to get anywhere. They will drag their feet for no reason. Make you wait an eternity.
They don't even answer the phone. It's a game of avoidance of work. These people could careless if people eat, and the Harrisburg people won't answer the phone either. Pathetic and totally unacceptable

I was supposed to have been called on a certain day at a certain time for an appointment last month for recertification of my SNAP benefits and medical assistance. She never called, not only at the time she was supposed to call but not at all. I left four messages for her on her answering machine. My interview over the phone was scheduled for around 3 weeks ago late morning. I called after and three times since. I constantly check the MyCompass app for any details or updates on what I need to do or what else I can do without my worker being unprofessional and not getting back to me at all. Like at all in the entire 3 weeks since I was supposed to have my interview. I got a notice on the app today that said that I didn't complete my interview and that I would be denied benefits because of this. Other than the times I've called my worker directly, I've also called the state customer service helpline. They are far more helpful and guide you through the process more than my worker ever had. This has been a nightmare of an experience. I finally had my interview today with someone from the state helpline and I should retain the benefits I'm qualified for. I submitted my application online in a timely manner and did MY due diligence on this but if I hadn't, I probably would be completely losing both my SNAP, which already got wrongfully denied and my medical assistance from the state. This county and office is horrendous and it makes me not even want to live in this city anymore. I'm debating since I've not heard back whether this worker is negligent and/or unprofessional. My answer is starting to materialize. Ignoring calls and reasonable call backs and then denying rightful benefits is a combination of both and is a reflection of this government agency, specifically the Erie County one, as a whole. Don't think that anyone would ever want to help you here. Always try to get your issue resolved with the toll free number because not only will you talk to a live case worker, they will actually try to help you like the one that helped me today.
I have been begging for help called several times filled out forms 3 wks now and no one has called back.
My caseworker hasnt returned my calls within thebpast week and a half and ive left 4 voicemails. She told me the first time to call her back after i turned in a document and wed do my intake, well i did and she never answered. She still hasnt answered. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.
Every time I call I just get an automated message telling me to leave a message and they’ll call me in 24 hours I call every day and never hear nothing
If I could give -1 star then I would. I was suppose to receive money for school supplies. I started the process a month before my first class. I had questions on how to fill it out, I called everyday for 2 weeks and never received a call back. So I stopped by the office, I was directed to a nice lady who told me everything I needed to know. She also made it very clear to send the papers out after my first day of classes. Which was great, I was ready for my semester and was able to pay for my supplies. I'm a week into my semester now, I received a call saying my money has been denied because I sent the papers out the day after, I even dropped them off at the window after classes started. Reasoning was that the due date is the first day of classes. When I explained that I was told differently my social worker said that he couldn't do a thing, never apologized or showed any empathy. Now I have no money for my books and wont be able to order them till the end of the month.. I'll be getting my book a month late because I was told wrong information.
Says they are open in Erie at 7:30 am but when you all it says they are closed. ONE star for that However, I love my case worker 5 stars for her!!! SO, I am rating the calls and NOT my case worker !!!
