The staff was remarkably patient with the kids as they drooled over all the endless possibilities of milkshakes and even recommended his favorite flavor combinations. The food was exactly as expected, however, the onion rings were a chart-topper. Overall, a fantastic experience for our weekday family dinner and dessert. Vegetarian options: Garden burger, grilled cheese Kid-friendliness: About as kid-friendly as it gets Parking: 20 spaces or so directly South of front entrance Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp to the NE of entrance Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian friendly
Although I deeply respect the longevity and history of this business, food items outside of ice cream and shakes needs to improve. My initial bite into the cheeseburger tasted like peanut shells though I am certain peanut oil was not used. It pains me to think that I have had better flavor and experiences with national chains. The tots were superior to the burger, but that is an every day supermarket item and not an accolade. Table tops were somewhat greasy. Ambience was nice and staff was friendly.
We made a family visit to Fanci Freez with varied results. First, the good: I tried their Huckleberry Burger yes, you read that correctly -- Huckleberry and it was surprisingly good. They put huckleberry glaze in place of regular condiments. It was quite sweet which was an interesting flavor profile. I wouldn't choose it often instead of savory options; however, it was a fun experience. My wife had the Mushroom Burger and it was very good -- plenty of thinly sliced grilled mushrooms with lettuce and Swiss cheese. Two grandsons had dipped ice cream cones -- chocolate dipped in chocolate and vanilla dipped in butterscotch. They didn't talk much because they were too busy eating. The cones were large and threatened to melt before they could finish. The other grandson had a medium Oreo shake and complained that it was too thick... To me, that is a good thing -- who wants a thin shake?! This teenager, who normally is a bottomless pit when it comes to food, couldn't quite finish his shake -- another positive. My wife & I love huckleberries evidenced by my choice of burgers; therefore, we shared a large Huckleberry Shake. It had plenty of whole berries and good thick ice cream. It was a tasteful delight! The only problem is that the fruit kept getting stuck in the over-sized straw. We had to ask for a spoon to enjoy most of the huckleberries [see my second photo]. In our book, that is not much of a problem. Now, for the downsides: I asked for grilled onions on my burger; however, they were not grilled. The overall flavor was fine anyway; but I expect restaurants to get the order done correctly. The Italian Soda and Spin drinks for my daughter and son-in-law didn't get prepared until they went back to the counter and inquired about them. For some reason, the staff forgot to complete the entire order. The place was only medium-busy on a Thursday evening; so there is really no good excuse for that oversight. Son-in-law liked his Orange Spin whereas daughter said Sonic's Italian sodas are better. Good / bad??: The first chocolate dipped cone was a medium size instead of the large which was ordered. When the error was noted, the staff quickly prepared a large cone. That grandson was happy because he now had a cone in each hand. Back to the good: The servers were pleasant and responded well when the issues were brought to their attention. They quickly fixed their errors without any poor attitude. Overall, we had a nice experience!
I am disappointed in this place. My banana split was missing chip cream and the cherry on top. Just not the same without them :- Another thing, a good Banana Split has a good presentation, they are just ugly here. Artic Circle in Meridian has a much better Banana Split
Took forever through the drive through. Wife and I drank our large drinks before we even got our food. Took that long. The we get home and the tater tots ordered were mushy and under cooked.
The shakes were good, I really liked the flavors! I have had thicker shakes which is why the 4/5, but still an excellent consistency and again flavors! Service was fairly quick for a busy Friday night and for teenagers they were pretty engaging and kind. Fun atmosphere we ate outside and had a gard time finding a clean table but enjoyed the weather. It is a little shop so it was a bit cozy on a Friday. It looked like they may have a fire pit of some sort as well. Tasty and fun!
We had the chicken strips. The quality of the strips was lacking a bit for the price. They were more chicken nuggets than actutal strips. The fries and ice cream were great. The service was average for a fast food place, but the look and feel of the place was comfortable.Food: 4/5
Not the Fanci Freeze you know! This place has a completely different feeling from the Boise location, very modern and stale. The customer service was also incredibly lacking. We went in for shakes 30 minutes before closing and the staff was literally closing the store up around us, sweeping, rolling up rugs, putting chairs up, etc. Furthermore, a metal band t shirt and a beanie is certainly not appropriate attire for a customer facing job in the service industry. As for the food, the shakes were certainly not the “best in Idaho” as advertised, with my Oreo shake coming out incredibly bland a few Oreo crumbs mixed in with mediocre vanilla ice cream.
Second time there they forgot the bacon on our bacon cheeseburger first time they forgot the double patty on the double cheeseburger. Called and informed them both times so they could better there staffing attention to detail. I never ask but also was never offered the difference back in change. Bacon is more money and so is the a extra patty which I paid for and never gotten never off compensation. I took it as a oops the first this second time was my bad I won't go through they drive through again. Bummer I like there shakes. They must be doing ok to not care about customers and service. Parking: Drive through isn't trailer friendly
Yummy food! Used to go to the location in downtown Boise so it's nice to have another location in Meridian to visit. Food was quick, the gems were hot & crispy. Beer battered fries delight with Fry Sauce don't get excited, it's not handmade They have awesome flavor burst cones that are gigantic! Rating a 4 because there isn't much parking... and there was melted and dried ice cream all over the ground out front.
