Awesome state park, pet friendly, kid friendly, people friendly. Clean bathrooms nice hot showers nice campsites 50 amp electric and water on the RV sites and plenty of tent sights too. A nice beach on the very southern end of the Chesapeake bay you frequently see Navy ships heading in and out of the Norfolk Navy base. The rangers that work at the park are the nicest I've encountered at my many camping trips. There's also some first class cabins for rental. The park has miles of hiking trails through cypress swamps, wetlands and woods with all kinds of wildlife. This is a first class state park I've been camping at for 25 years with at least one visit a year.

We loved this place, would have given 5 stars but after an issue and being belittled by park police we actually cut our trip short & moved to another campground. The people in the office are amazing & they were wonderful to visit. Brutus felt at home there which is unusual since we are home only occasionally. I miss it, the nice dog friendly beach, the beautiful & well kept trails, the ladies & guys in the information center, trail head & museum. Hope u get the chance to visit.

Great Park right in Virginia Beach! Tons of hiking trails that very from .3 miles to over 6 miles! One fee to access both the hiking trails and the beach. Lovely Beach with lots of little shells... Great for walking or just sitting. Great place to let the kids play without having to worry about them getting knocked down by giant waves! The entire park is clean and the park rangers are more than happy to answer any questions you may have. And a wonderful Trail center with lots to look at with the kids!

My favorite state park so far! Great early fall vacation. Stayed in beautiful wooded camp ground with clean facilities that was very private. Beach wasn't busy with clear water and dolphins! Lots of hiking trails on the other side of the park through a swamp area with spanish moss. Everything was gorgeous!

One of my favorite places in the area. So serene and beautiful with so much history throughout. I love riding my bike or hiking with my dog on the trails to the beaches.
