Great campground! Dark skies, cliff dwelling in the CG, spacious sites, clean bathrooms, and access to that enigma of Chaco Culture NHP. Site 45 was excellent. Bring your own firewood. Water is available at the Visitor Center not at the CG.

CHACO....Are u kidding me, such a beautiful gem.... and in our backyard!. Do yourself a favor, before you go out of America to visit other historic sites, visit this and more hidden gems in America, you won't regret it.

We loved staying here, both times, once with tents, once with our RV. The campground is nestled into the canyon walls and offers beautiful views.

One of the best campgrounds I've been too! I plan on returning to that one sometime.

Surprisingly nice campground. Sand platform for tents. Heated bathrooms (we visited in January) with sinks, soap and hand dryers. Fairly roomy campsites. No shade. Driving there: we came from north on 550. Red Mess Express gas station is about 1 mile east of turnoff. Park is about 21 miles from 550: 8 miles paved, then 8 miles of maintained unpaved, and 5 miles of rough, rutted, pot-holed, washboard, dirt road. Last 5 miles has sizeable patches of clay which offers little traction when wet!! Roads in park are paved. I strongly encourage you to read their web page advisories and road&weather conditions. And call them the day before even. Amazing National Monument!!!
