I thought this place was pretty cool. A nice restaurant tons of parking and picnic spots, and beautiful roadway up to the summit. Cool gift-shop at the top, and the mile-high bridge was pretty cool to experience with stunning, panoramic views. Definitely a great place for large groups, family outing and the like, though it's certainly a tourist trap. Now, that said, the entrance fees were ridiculous, and that's the only reason this is being marked a two-star. It cost $90 for four 5 of us, two of which were small children. I don't recall the cost per-person, but it's not per car. Is it worth seeing, yes, but you can get better views up at Table Rock and it's free.

Stunning! Love the Mile High "Singing" Bridge. The animal habitat was a great little sight for the whole family. The Nature Museum was just the right size and perfect getaway out of the cold wind. Hiking will be on the next trip to Grandfather Mountain. There are lots of picnic areas to take a break if you have kids or can't walk for long periods. The Fudge Shop has amazing fudge, but the drinks a very pricey so take your own drinks. The guide CD provided was awesome while taking the drive up from the entry gate, loved learning more about the mountain!

Super educational. Beautiful place. The animals habitat-sanctuary is amazing. The volunteers and employees are wonderful people. You are missing a very special place if you neglect to go. Take your children. They will love it and you too for taking them!

This is a really nice state park. Lots of trails for hiking and walking and you can take a car up pretty high if you don't feel like walking up the entire thing. It's $20 per person to get in which feels kind of pricey for just hiking trails, but they do maintain a lot of the park and have a shop and stuff up at the top so I suppose that's nice. Views are absolutely beautiful, if you're looking to see the scenery out here there is probably not a better place.

Always an amazing trip when my husband and I go out there. Sometimes we bring our pup, but if you bring yours, make sure you can carry/lift them if needed. Some trails have ladders or boulders to climb, and some parts I wouldn't advise it. We use an outward hound day pack/harness that has a handle to give her a boost (attached picture). Always beautiful up there. We've been hiking for about 5 years now and this is my personal favorite in NC.
