About

Established in 1972, Greek Souvlaki is known for being the first restaurant to ever serve the Gyro Sandwich in Utah. We have won Best Gyro over 10 years!

Story

Greek Souvlaki was founded in 1972 by Lee and Mary Paulos. They were the first to bring yeeros (gyros) to Utah. It was a family visit back to Greece that sparked the idea of a restaurant. Lee's brother, Tasos Petropoulos, owned a small restaurant serving yeeros in Pireaus and Lee noticed that the tourists loved them.

At first, Greek Souvlaki only sold three items: yeeros (gyro), souvlaki, and beefteki. The red sauce was the specialty sauce, in fact white sauce was added many years later! With Mary's home made recipes and Lee's inventive and creative mind, they added many other items to their menu.

The business has grown with two additional stores since Lee and Mary retired in the year 2000. Great customer service, good quality products, and absolute dedication was the recipe for success. Their sons Frank, Leo, and Chris have taken over the business and are using that same recipe for the future of Greek Souvlaki!

Food was good. Very unclean. You could see food and dirt all over the cabinets, none of the tables were cleaned. Then the women's bathroom toilet was piled to the brim with feces. Pretty sure if there was a random health inspection they would fail. Took a long time for food. Food was good, but that was it. Get it to go... stay out of the bathroom.

We got the traditional Gyro combos here. The food was really good. The service was fast and great and the seating areas were clean and there is a good number of tables to sit at. Price is reasonable. It was about $9 for a gyro, massive plate of fries and a drink.

I like Greek Food and I cannot lie You other Yelpers can't deny That when a pita walks in that's baked so nice And you've got tzatziki on your rice You get...hungry Oh, so hungry. I got the platter and it was quite the amount of food. The red sauce was not what I expected it to be, having eaten at many other similar locales. I wasn't a huge fan of it. The white sauce was tasty. This isn't my favorite Mediterranean-type place in Utah County, but it is definitely the closest to me.

Good, but the web orders is a waste of time - they don't start your order until you arrive. You're better off ordering as you walk through the door.
