Loved the park! Camped here for a week in February. Everything seemed well maintained for the off season and bathrooms were warm and clean! We took a self tour of Atalaya! It was beautiful and soooo worth the few dollars admission was! They give you a little map and each room is labeled and tells you a little about the home and family that lived there! We are looking forward to returning in just a few weeks to attend the big car show and we already have sites reserved! !

This is such a great place to be in February when coming from more colder areas to the North. The area is beautiful. People we talked with during are visit were kind, helpful and laid back .

We stayed at the campground for several days and saw most of the park. We did not visit Atalaya as of yet. The campground is nice and well laid out, there are two access boardwalks to the beach and numerous observation platforms for birdwatching. The bathhouses are outdated and don't seem to be cleaned regularly but they do have a sign posted for maintenance positions so hopefully that will be rectified. There are still signs of hurricane damage from Matthew but nothing severe. The campsites are plentiful and you can choose from sunny or shaded or wooded. A lot of the sites are sloped in one direction or humped in the middle and could use leveling. Most are 30 amp power and water only. There are three dump stations at the entrance, trash and recycling. The gift shop and registration desk are well kept and stocked with souvenirs and necessities.

Beautiful state with trails through the marshes, picnic areas, campgrounds, beach access (one of them allow dogs). Excellent for walking, riding bikes and/or bird watching and photographing. Plenty of clean restrooms convenient to all activities. And a must do is a tour of Atalaya Castle.

Great place for doing all king of outdoor activities, they have a great lake you can drive over, lots of roads to cycle on and good natural areas for camping. Definitely worth the visit.
