Ensuring current and future public access of the park and monument, and protect and preserve the historical monument for future generations, by conducting events and programs of quality educational and entertaining venues for the purposes of promoting public awareness and to advance the civic, cultural, and historic interests.

The trails are awesome. Love the waterfall near the Runestone. I have walked the trail to the stone many times and would do it again any time. They have the Viking festival as well and I look forward to the next one!

Heavener Runestone State Park is always enjoyable to visit. My most recent visit was on January 1, 2017. It was a quiet day for my first hike of 2017. There were only a few others at the park and the gift shop was closed. They host an annual Viking Festival at the park which I hope will grow into a larger event.

The park is okay, I think the little building/housing down in the runestone out needs some repairs but my main issue is with the gift shop. My family and I went there on a Sunday, March 5th at 3:34 PM when we got there the gist shop's sign said "OPEN" but..on it they had a post-it note saying "LUNCH", so for 30 minutes we explored the runestone park, when we got back up to the gift shop the "LUNCH" note was still there and it was one hour before they have to close. I knocked a few times and no one was inside, if they were inside they were hiding so my family and I left.

It's not all it's cracked up to be. I went in August trails closest to the entrance are well maintained but those further in are overgrown.

Had my baby girls 1st birthday party here. Good thing they have water faucets next to the bigger awnings.. she was a mess. Pretty neat history lesson if you will read the story about the stone.
