The lake and surrounding area is beautiful. Try to go on a weekend when it is less crowded. Many people go to the Beavers Bend park because of the river/trout fishing, but Hochatown is just as nice and seems to be less crowded most of the time. We have had a camp site right on the lake every time we have been. We have had good luck fishing here in the past but YMMV. Cost is reasonable as with most state parks. Restrooms have been hit or miss (-1 star). I have been when they were reasonably clean and well maintained and I have been when it looked like no one had checked on them in a couple of weeks. Overall a good experience.

In my opinion, this is one of Oklahoma's best parks. They views are wonderful and there's plenty of hiking and accommodations for virtually anything you'd like to do. It's clean, well kept, tucked out of the way. At night there's plenty of fine places to eat and drink. The little town is a bit upper class so expect to pay a little more for dinner. However, you definitely get your money's worth.

Between the camping, the lodge, the cabins, the marina, the general store with restaurant, the trout river, and the hiking trails, fairly clean facilities, what's not to like. And it's free for day use. Wish the lake would have been up a little more but they were preparing for spring floods.

Trails, museum, lake, train rides are all fun. Fishing spots are easy to access if that's your purpose. Been there 3 years in a row. Restaurant choices seem to be growing. 2 or 3 more new places vs. last year.

My family and I loved this place. Take a hike on the trails you will enjoy it. Avoid the scenic bluff trail if you are new to hiking. It is quite the challenge.
