Thank you for almost ruining my planned weekend!  Do not book through third party companies like Hotwire, they accept your credit card, charge your account to hold the reservation and then Hertz does not let you have the vehicle because the credit card is not a Major credit card.  Not only did I not get a car that I needed I also had to spend over an hour on the phone trying to get back the money that had already taken from me! 😡  Will NEVER use this company again!

Trying to return our car to catch a 1020 flight,  it is 930 and the counter is vacant. Multiple people have called the 800 number but no positive response from them. The drop box is locked so you cannot drop off the keys. Very poor customer service. Would not rent from them again.

First off I'd just like to say, that I am very grateful for the staff I encountered at Hertz. I have had many troubles with other rental agencies before, like Budget... what a joke. The lady that took care of me was extremely professional, attentive, and had a winning personality, I believe her name was Brandy. I do have to say that I am not a fan of the NeverLost GPS system they have, it is quite annoying. All in all it was a good experience and I will definitely be back again.

Active duty Air Force in town to fix an aircraft that got stranded here. We needed a car in a hurry for a day to drive to Fort Polk to pick up equipment. At pick up I was told the charge would be around 50 for the whole rental, a statement I did no question as I was in a hurry and trusted the attendant. Upon return I was charged $94.88 for a one day rental of a Corolla. I asked the desk attendant why the charge was so high and she stated it was the walk-in rate since nothing had been reserved. The parking lot was packed with available cars, and the daily rate for the Corolla was $29.63, but because I spoke to some in person instead of going online and reserving a car while standing in front of the counter, the rate went up to $66.06 per day. Furthermore, they charged a 24.42% recovery fee. I travel a lot and rent a lot of cars - quite a few from Hertz - and I've never seen something like this. They are not only opportunistic and abusive in their pricing, but the desk attendant had no interest in helping me or explaining why the rate was what it was - in fact she seemed aggravated that I even asked. If you decide to rent from them, make sure you have a detailed invoice of what it will cost before you sign. Don't depend on them having your best interest in mind.

Imagine that 1 star has a minus sign in front of it, please. The "never lost" black box mounted on the dashboard that greets you with an annoying jingle and "Hertz" is one reason I will never rent another car from Hertz. If the CEO of Hertz were to have one of those pesky things mounted in his personal car, he would order them removed from all Hertz cars in two days. Also, Hertz tried to steal an extra day's rental from me, saying I kept the car a day longer than I did. After calling Hertz and arguing, I finally had to threaten legal action to get the refund of the day. The company should consider re-branding to the name "Hurts."
