They replaced the starter in my car last summer, and it ran well for about a year. Took it back into them this summer because I was having issues with it that seemed similar to when I last had problems with it. The part was under warranty, so I thought it was worth taking it back to them and having the part fixed/replaced if it were to be the issue. **They tell me no, it's the timing belt that needs replacing.** Typically this replacement is done with water pump replacement too. Costs of these and a few other replacements they decided to include (+labor) in the estimates totaled over $1200. **Decided not to go ahead with their suggested repairs.** Would also like to note that when I drove my car off the lot, the "service engine soon" light came on--something that hadn't been showing up previously. Maybe that was a fix, but it seemed suspicious to me. 

**Took my car to a mechanic in my hometown who checked it out and diagnosed the problem as...the starter.** He replaced it and now it's cranking up first time with no problems at all and is running great. Staff at JMW seemed pleasant, but how can I know any of it was genuine or feel like they had any respect for me when what they recommended seems...false?

tl;dr: JMW told me it wasn't the problem was not the starter, which I had under warranty from a replacement by them a year ago. Took my car to another mechanic for a second opinion. He replaced the starter, and now my car's starting with no problems at all.

EDIT: Upon contacting JMW after having my car repaired at another mechanic by having the starter replaced, Jake(?), who claimed to be the owner, was very rude when it was suggested that the problem was indeed the starter, even though I was told by JMW that it was not. He hung up.

Terrible service and work. I brought in my 2004 gray 350Z for a clutch and not only did they take TWO weeks (told me they'd be done in 3 DAYS) but called me a liar and a "problem since the beginning". Made me drive halfway there (I lived in dahlonega) THREE SEPARATE TIMES and mid way there they'd call and say "sorry but it's no good. Come in 2-3 days". They don't care about their customers, and the phrase "the customer is always right" does not apply with them. I was HUGELY disappointed when I received the service I received from here after reading all the great reviews. The mechanic that fixed up my car, who apparently has 25 years or something working on Japanese cars, couldn't put a clutch assembly in a JAPANESE car. I came here summer time of last year (2016) and waited til my warranty was void to write this review. I hate this place, the people, and service. Do not recommend bringing your cars and business to this place.

Trustworthy is the word to best describe the crew at Japanese Motorworks. If you ask them to tell you everything that is wrong with the car, they will tell you. I had a car that needed a good amount of repair ($4000) and asked the owner what he suggested that I do. Instead of telling me to go through with the repairs (with dollar signs in his eyes), he advised me to sell it to a dealership and buy my wife a car instead. Will take all my cars to them from here on out.
