"The first Macado’s restaurant was opened in 1978 by Richard Macher in downtown Roanoke, Virginia. It soon became popular for its eclectic ambiance of cartoon, antique, and local nostalgic decor, as well as its wide array of hearty yet modestly-priced sandwiches, subs, and entrees.Popular with the college crowd, the restaurant opened additional locations near Virginia Tech, Radford University, and Roanoke College.The already-lengthy menu has been changed and expanded over the years, and several events have grown in popularity, such as the Macado’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Party and the Macado’s Halloween Party. So many sandwich options!! The staff does an amazing job even though they are still short on staff they have you food and drinks to you super fast and never miss a beat! Yes you may have to wait to be seated but they are so friendly and for being worked as hard as they are they deserve customers who are friendly right back! I think everyone in Macados is doing a wonderful job!! Great food Great service Great job!

Wonderful food and service was great, even though it was busy and short on staffing, food came out fast. Would always recommend more out door seating.

The southwestern fiesta salad is soooo good. The waiters are really helpful and friendly. I've been here several times and it's always a good experience!

Amazing food. Tried this place on a whim and man I am now a huge fan of this place.  Portions were massive and the food was amazing. Even when I got home the food was all still mostly hot. Also their French Dip is the best I've ever had.  Also when packing my food, they kept the warm and cold items separate which was genius and I hardly ever see that be done.  The place has a great atmosphere as well. Feels welcoming and warm.  Can't wait to come back here. Now I wanna try everything on the menu.

Been to that location 3 times, and the food is excellent. The BIG negative is about the reception policy: people come in and no one is there to greet them. I have seen several people just leaving after standing there for a bit. All 3 times we were there, the bartender was the one to finally greet us. Food is awesome, building is beautiful and the staff is quite friendly but do something about the greeting part.

Great restaurant for a quick bite or family meal, delicious sandwiches, delicious bar drinks, great desserts and apps. Courteous staff and great management!! Thank you, I will be back!!

The food was a bit greasy and made me sick afterwards but the taste wise was good. They definitely are understaffed and the hostess isn't the nicest but gets the job done, also once again dealing with understaffedness. Our waiter was also the bartender and he was AMAZING! Attentive even when dealing with customers at bar.Food: 4/5

I sat at bar, ordered a roast beef sandwich. It was full of gressal and tuff and chewy. The service was slow although it seemed the bartender was overwhelmed and needed help. I will  probably gave the place a second chance although I will not eat there again.

Service was so slow, but it was their first week open. We had the fish tacos and chicken tacos, pretty tasty and decent portion. Fries were pretty good too. Sweet tea had no sweet even after another was ordered. Inside is decorated pretty cool. Once they work the kinks out it will be a great place. Menu is huge- can be a bit overwhelming to look at.

amazing burgers! and the home made chips are literally just the best! Boomer burger and the nachos are always going to be my top choice!
