My second used-car purchase experience was at the Manheim Car King on Paxton Street.

This dealership was selling a 2009 Toyota Tacoma with a fair price considering the low number of miles and rarer cab, bed, and trim-level configuration. I called the dealer on a Monday to confirm the vehicle was still for sale (it was). I came in unannounced that Monday evening to find that the vehicle was being serviced. No problem, I return to the dealer the following Wednesday for a top-to-bottom inspection and brief test-drive.

Joshua was the salesman who greeted me and helped me working through purchasing the truck. He was a bit chatty and wacky if I'm allowed to say, but overall mostly professional while still making me feel at ease. After the vehicle met my initial expectations, I requested additional information and service records from Joshua. He answered promptly and clarified immediately when answers to my questions changed.

He allowed me a second, longer test drive on the truck. I decided I was going to buy it. We were able to reach a good deal on price, which can be hard to find as used car prices are more competitive now. He allowed me to put down a deposit to take the vehicle off their listings, which was not cashed until after the vehicle was sold. He and other staff helped me work through paperwork challenges.

I have owned the vehicle a bit less than a week, and so far no problems. I would like to put a good word in for Joshua and his salesmanship. 

I will update this review should I find this dealer is at fault for any trouble.

Nice used vehicles. Laid back sales approach by honest salesmen. Unfortunately you still have to haggle with the manager.

Application for loan approved. Called back to let me know. Then all of a sudden the vehicle was wasn't road worthy. It had a bad transmission and the all the pads and rotors needed replaced. Told by salesman they didn't want to sell me a lemon. Of course the vehicle was never pulled of the website, until what I assume happened was someone else bought it. Was told they could put me in different make and model. I wasn't interested. They said they would work on it for me. Weeks went by no calls. Finally I found another vehicle in my price range and style. Of course it wasn't at the advertised lot. Took them hours to find it. Told me other people were interested in it and wanted to look at it. Told me they would call either way so I would know what's going on. Now days have gone by no calls. Go with a more reputable dealership. I have now personally given up on this place and will spend my cash elsewhere.

Good service and good prices. Not your typical used dealer. Worked well with us and service the vehicles they sell.  Would buy there again.

My car buying experience at Manheim Car King can be described as nothing less than comfortable, affordable, and honest. I had no idea I would find a dealership or a salesperson than I could trust, but Mr. O`Brien and the management were sincere in their concern for my best interests being met. It is rare to find a place where they actually care about their customers, not just their money, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for an authentic buying experience.
